Description

Theory of Evolution has been proven time and time again to be solid fact

-->
@Nemiroff

Well, the definition's can go both ways. The definition's could be skewed toward either side. Depends on how your opponent uses the topic itself and all it's description.

-->
@InFakeWars

Perhaps, but i am trying to be persuasive, and your words are now part of this discussion independent of you yourself. I find them supportive of my stance with a bit of elaboration, so they were mentioned. Thanks!

-->
@Nemiroff

I'm not taking part in the debate. I'm just stating the facts. What I stated is what a theory and law mean. Nothing I said in that sentence was to be persuasive.

-->
@InFakeWars

Everything you said is 100% accurate. However that doesnt change the fact/theory duality of things like evolution.

Even if some aspects of our details about evolution (aka the theory) change, the overall process of evolution is a fact.

We may modify the rate of change, add some mechanisms, etc to the theory, but that wont change it from evolution to not evolution. Kinda how minor tweeks to general relativity wont debunk the fact of gravity.

A law is something that can be proven mathematically, or predicts something using other scientific laws, practices, or mathematical predictions.

A Scientific Theory is something that tries to explain what just happened.

Theories are used when we gather hypotheses and compile them if they have a common end. For instance, I notice that on a certain day every month, that the Moon is in its full. Many Gathered Hypotheses lead me to a Theory about how fast or slow the moon moves relative to my position. It may not be true, but my hypotheses always make it out to be.

So, in short, Theories explain how things happen, and Laws explain things and why they do it using math.

Hey! I'm finally back dude.

Billbatard seems you really like debate. You take up 90% of the challenges I swear.

@zedvictor4

And what does make for a fact?

-->
@Nemiroff
@billbatard

You're theories are factually incorrect.

A scientific theory can be tested repeatedly and be shown to have consistent results. but this still doesn't make it a fact.

-->
@zedvictor4

i know for a fact something can be both a theory and a fact

-->
@zedvictor4

You should really look up the definitions before making definitive statements. Some words have more technical definition within certain fields... like theory in science.

-->
@billbatard

If it was a fact then it would not be a theory.
