Description

Background: Previously, the "sex" drop-down menu on the profile page listed male/female as the only options. A user suggested that an "other" option should be included. This has caused, in one way or another, contentious discussions in the forums. Eventually the "other" option was added.

This debate is an open challenge to those on the forums espousing ignorant and backward views.

Warning: The resolution is easy to prove. If you accept this debate, then you will probably lose.

Resolution: Sex is not binary

Definitions -

Sex: Either of the two main categories (male and female) into which humans and most other living things are divided on the basis of their reproductive functions.

Binary: Illustratively, think of binary numbers: zero or one. True or false. One or the other. No middle ground.

Rules:

Round 1: Opening cases only

Round 2: Rebuttals only. No new arguments.

While this was a poor show in all respects on both sides, Con slightly edges Pro out on conduct, as Pro's description read as obnoxiously condescending.

It took me a long time to weigh the points of both sides and examine the evidence given, the arguments had many facets and layers of complexity to consider which I wrestled with philosophically. The sources got a bit too technical for my taste. But bravo, a neck and neck race, exhilarating.
