Description

Einstein is overrated. He's overhyped in the media. "Was Einstein wrong?" as a headline in pop-sci publications induces mass hysteria for literally no reason. Why couldn't Einstein be wrong? He wasn't smarter than my high school math teachers. I should know, because I failed and dropped out multiples times, providing me with ample opportunity to judge these people first-hand. That makes me as smart as Einstein, at least according to stuff I read on the internet. Pigs can fly, and you must concede this in your first round or automatically forfeit the entire debate. I will argue that the theories of Special and General Relativity do not prove Einstein was a smarter theoretical physicist than his contemporaries. In support of this assertion I shall use both the content of the theories themselves as well as the circumstances surrounding their evolution.

By "contemporaries" I mean other theoretical physicisists famous enough to have their own Wikipedia articles.

My opponent's only task is to refute my arguments. If they like, they may present evidence of their own in favor of their position; namely, that Einstein's relativity theories do prove that Einstein was a genius compared to his contemporaries.

Please keep with the spirit of this debate and do not try to win by any loopholes or underhanded means.

@Puachu

If you do, then use them in your arguments.

@Intelligence_06

Yes sir, I do have all the doctorates in all the stuff.

-->
@Puachu

Your reductio ad absurdum fallacy shows that you did little research.

Do you have a doctorate and can prove, in the grounds of physics, that Einstein was wrong? No? Even if yes, it didn't seem like that you used any here.

Well, I've always wondered what it's like to understand Newton physics alongside Einstein's physics. Their relevant books in the library are very alluring. Alas, I don't have the time to read them. Would be interested to see where this debate goes. I think it's interesting to learn Einstein's contemporaries. Maybe they're easier to follow than Einstein himself.

@Benjamin

No he didn't invent much at all, he got credit for other's work. Gravity wasn't his idea, the apple story was invented by others he hired to make a captivating lie.

-->
@RationalMadman

Newton created the math field of calculus; he described the laws of motion, thermodynamics, energy and gravity. His laws hold true and are mathematically accurate even to this day. Moreover, he accomplished a lot of these feats while still being a student --- Einstein only looks "smarter" because his theory is more modern.

-->
@Benjamin

Einstein could run circles around newton and still beat the shit out of him intellectually. Stop bullshitting.

-->
@Puachu

Your premise is flawed. Einstein being wrong is not "hyped" because of his alledged genius (mind you, Newton, Leonardo and many others where way more genius than him), but because his theories is the foundation of modern physics.

"Please keep with the spirit of this debate and do not try to win by any loopholes or underhanded means." I agree with Sum1hugme; a laugher, particularly after Puachu makes the claim, "...and you must concede this [pigs fly] in your first round or automatically forfeit the entire debate." Cheeky. I offer the following non-syllogism:

P1 Birds fly
P2 Camels walk
C: Therefore, butterflies swim.

"Pigs can fly, and you must concede this in your first round or automatically forfeit the entire debate."
