Description

In this we will be debating about witch Star War Trilogy was best. I will be on the new trilogy.

Though I will admit both sides are quite interesting only one can win. I think that the new trilogy ( also called “The Skywalker Saga) is best because of these reasons. First, since the older movies were made so long ago the special effects were more cheesy and not as digitally enhanced as they are now. Because of this reason I think it is safe to say that the special affects are better now then that were. Second, money, https://www.the-numbers.com/movies/franchise/Star-Wars#tab=summary as you can see The Force Awakens blew the tops off the rest of the movies blowing past 750,000,000 while the older movies sit in the dust sometimes barely passing 250,000,000 or 500,000,000.

  1. Old Trilogy was de facto the more successful one. It led to them making the massive hit which was the New Trilogy that people only (yes, only) watched with such fervour and mass-appeal due to the success of the Old Trilogy.
  2. The story of Old Trilogy comes after the new one (yes, they made the last 3 movies in the 6-movie storyline before the first three) meaning that it is arguable that the sole reason New Trilogy was successful was that it gave a good enough backstory (albeit, with many holes in it) to the Old Trilogy.
  3. The Old Trilogy was much better at making clear what a Sith is and what a Jedi is. Pro may argue that this is what's interesting about the New Trilogy but moral ambiguity and showing both sides as corrupt isn't exactly what makes a great movie series, you end up rooting for neither side.
  4. Because the Old Trilogy was after the New Trilogy in the storyline, everyone knew who lived and who ended up where injury-wise before watching the finale of the New Trilogy. This is literally a suicidal spoiler for a series to do, it is so ironic and stupid and is why no other series that I know of has gone about making a series like this. It works in a Quentin Tatantino movie because they selectively reveal the future and past, without spoiling it.

In 1983, George Lucas’s tripartite masterpiece was complete. The Star Wars trilogy had finished and secured a highly regarded place in the history of cinema. But Lucas had big plans for his greatest work. In the years following the release of the films, they were, I’d argue, mutilated. I know I'm not alone in this feeling.

A load of ill-fitting CGI was tacked on (though changing the Sarlacc was probably for the best. Anything to make it look less like genitalia in the desert), sound effects were changed, dialogue was dubbed over, and most appallingly of all, Greedo shot first. I may be a purist, but to me, this is the equivalent of taking a painting that you’ve spent years working on and that is beloved by all, and deciding to improve it by spray-painting an enormous cock and balls on it.
