Hello everyone! Today I would like to make the case for classical Theism, that is the case for God. This question has been debated throughout all of history and so it is quite an honor to continue this great conversation and build upon it in the present day. DO NOT join if you have an agnostic view of God/do not have evidence for the position that God does not exist. I have done these debates on debate.org, but It seems that site is plagued by trolls lately. To Truth! -logicae
Modified Speedrace debate. Should've accepted it then but well I didn't.
Making it again
Hello all! What do I mean by "modern debate" and my supposed depressed state I describe to it? Debate is an art form created who knows how long ago, but purpose driven to challenge and find truth. It provides a structure to see clearly someone's ideas and gives you the ability to challenge them to check their validity. I loved debate at first sight as it helped me understand how to reason, but my experience has lead me to see an increasing misunderstanding by others of the point of debate.
We will specifically be arguing over the logical validity of whether the self is God. Of course, this debate will ignore the scientific method, but it will be philosophically and logically based.
The contender of this debate and the site I am debating on doesn't exist.
The question that all debates about abortion boils down to.
Debate on the soundness of the modal ontological argument
This debate is on the topic: "Developed nations have a moral obligation to admit people fleeing oppression." I will take the Con position. See the full description for more details.
My position is that an intrinsic moral code that outlines and defines good as an objective standard, rather than a utilitarian standard or Kantian Maxim, cannot exist without a supreme and objective outside source defining an action or mode of action as good. Your position (con) would argue against that hypothesis, and that a code of objective values CAN exist without God, OR, that a subjective system of ethical values could be as strong of a system.
Resolved: Violent revolution is a just response to political oppression.
Another debate I'm starting. Based on the recent 'facts don't care about your feelings' argument being chucked around here and there.
