Everybody loves music, two questions...…
What's the greatest ERA of music?

What's the greatest GENRA of music?
Of course both of these are subjective but so is all preference for music so give your opinions.

There was a literal golden age of music in the Romantic Era. After WW1 music exploded and diversified down several trees. Mainly America trying to find culture. The expansion was influenced by black people popularising b5 in a penta scale to make blues (among many other technical changes) which greatly shaped the scales upon which music was made.

Tools became more accessible after synths and so we arrive at today, where anyone, including yours truly is capable of making music.

The best era for music was the Romantic Era, and it was the height of musical sophistication and expression. Genre wise, I don't have a preference, I only have unpreferences. I don't like rap for example, as that's often closer to poetry than it is to music.

Yeah I love that era of music too, I even like the Big band era or the 1900's and up the recordings are so nostalgic. But the older I get the more I listen to classical and nothing else lol. Something about hearing music with no singing or lyrics....I tend to like music without singing nowadays, I used to be the opposite!
I would agree rap is more like poetry in a way, but once you add the beats and melodies it's hard not to label it music I guess. It's not my favorite either but I grew up with it all around me. I like the energy in some of the songs but it starts to irritate me after awhile, I had friends that would listen to it nonstop, wake up to it, go to bed to it...that would drive me nuts.

I met a lady once, who did not like music. None of it. Music of any kind irratated her. Strange.

Her name was Lena. Sweet as an angel. Would go out of her way to help anyone. Smart as a whip. But did not care for music.

You can find music for anyone. Music is a culture now a days. We have music streaming services, radios, concerts, etc. It has become a wave of people developing overtime. Elvis was criticized in the 50s, Michael Jackson was criticized in the 80s, even Back Street Boy were criticized in the 90s. Now people hate on rap in the 2010s. Pretty soon it will be elegant music and music will turn into stuff we can't stand listening too like fucking toilet sounds
