Wow, was I excited when I heard about this movie. Even the reviews were awesome, actors great, excellent trailer BUT.....then I watched the movie and was completely bummed. Anyone like this remake or movie? it seemed like the whole movie was in a truck lol, the original was fantastic and I was sure the actors in the new release would be a great addition but it was boring a heck!

I never saw the original, but I thought this movie was awesome. Worthy of enshrinement as a new cult classic.

Two things I could name off, even though I like the main actor his character seemed rather boring. I know Mel Gibson is a very charismatic person but so is Dan Hardy I think they could have lightened up a little, gave em more of a dynamic role. Also much of the movie took place inside that truck, and the end was a little silly....driving through tornadoes and car accidents and still living lol, I mean it got too goofy. Even though the new movie has all the effects and great cinema it seriously lacked the realistic nature of the first one. The original was much more believable in that sense.
You would think in todays world they could capture both, realistic plots AND great effects. In this particular movie the special effects played against the quality of it IMO.

Haha, had I not watched the original I may have liked it better. Mel Gibson has a very charismatic personality so his roles are always serious as well as funny, he has that unique ability to portray those qualities in a single character. You've never watched "Beyond Thunderdome" or "Road Warrior"??? come on now, that's your homework!

When I try to watch old Mel Gibson movies it reminds me of what he's become and I get kinda bummed out. I'll keep an eye out for 'em though, if you think they're good. And I must admit I really liked Hacksaw Ridge, which was Gibson's I think.

You're not the only person I've heard say "so they're just on this truck through the whole movie?" Yeah, it was different. I think that was the plot -- a marathon race to escape, beset upon by every warlord army in the land, keeping the truck going at all costs. A bare knuckle ride that lasted the length of the movie.

It got a little cooky in the ending, and the end seemed to drag out for a millennia. Maybe that's why older movies are more realistic because they couldn't get too crazy with special effects and ruin it. I think you will like the original two I mentioned especially if you like that one, you like guy flicks?? that's cool...

Mad max movies are not the place to go if you want to see light-heartedness, but as for the more 'dynamic role' criticism, the character of Max has far and away received more attention and dynamicism then anyone else in the franchise, which simply isn't a healthy thing to do if your intent is to build on this universe with additional films.

Also much of the movie took place inside that truck, and the end was a little silly....driving through tornadoes and car accidents and still living
The title of the movie is called 'Fury Road' and one of the things that made Mad Max such an iconic franchise is the idea of post-apocalyptic hellscapes where survival is built around being mobile, ah la having cars that chug gas and are designed to dismantle each other. That the movie opted to spend most of its time on the road in a vehicle means the movie was following its strengths that made it an iconic franchise in the first place....

Also if you think the tornadoes was a silly aspect, it was one time at the beginning of the movie that was never utilized again. Far crazier and more asinine stunts have been pulled in other car chase movies, look no further than the Fast and Furious franchise for evidence of that.

Perhaps you misunderstood me, I was saying the original character played by Mel Gibson (Mad Max) was much more dynamic than that of Dan Hardy's character. I like Dan Hardy but I think he fell short of the role compared to the original film. What I meant by "light-hearted" was that Mel Gibson has a unique quality of playing intense characters with a humorous aspect along with it.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the road warrior thing but as I said, it seemed to drag on at the end and was just not as believable especially when it gets too outrageous. And my point remains, the special effects didn't do this film any favors. I mean the guitar player with his double neck guitar spitting fireworks while they attack their enemies was great, but somehow I got the feeling most of the movie was filmed in the truck to meet a budget, could be wrong but watch it again, the ending was just stupid.

I don't know about you guys, but I never go on a raid unless I have a man in a red jumpsuit playing a flaming guitar chained to the hood of my truck.

For a guy interested in theism, the underlying theistic theme (witness!) was first crazy, then heartbreaking, and then uplifting.

The movie was great from start to finish, and the female characters were strong without having to give up their femininity.

As soon as he ate the geko in the beginning, I knew it was going to be a great movie.

I think that was the guy at the end of the movie who drives the truck into the archway formation to bottleneck the pursuing forces in the canyon and allowing the rest of the party to get away

Yeah that was it... but i can't remember what he said before he died. I remember it had to do with seeing the girl like an angel. Whatever he said is what hit me.

I watched this on DVD because everyone was raving about it.

I thought it was just, eh, ok.

Then I watched it on my computer and set the colors to sepia (VLC).

It looked like the most amazing comic book just came to life right before my eyes.

"The colors tab in VLC is equally useful. It allows you to add effects and extra colors from the video. Select Color extraction and then a color to turn the video into shades of that color. Use Color threshold to play with color levels while changing saturation and similarity. Select Negate colors to turn the video into a negative, Posterize to do exactly that and Gradient to illicit a look similar to a watercolor. Sepia does exactly what you think it does."

That's a pretty cool idea. I actually bought the movie, but a three pack or three-in-one set with the old Road Warrior and Thunder Dome. Been thinking about watching it again because sometimes movies grow on ya, or they are better the second time you watch them. I do like "sepia" though lol.

I love the movie enough to have bought the Chrome Edition.

A couple things...
The lead actor in question is Tom Hardy (not Dan).
The villain Immortan Joe, is played by Hugh Keays-Byrne, who played the lead villain Toecutter in the first Mad Max.
It is perhaps the only movie to ever be awarded 100 stars on the five-star scale (http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=mad_max_hell_yeah).
