Hello better trade deal πŸ‘πŸ‘

So to take stock:

-EU has agreed in principle to a free and fair trade deal
-Mexico has fully agreed to a new deal.Β

Biggest takeaways on this deal fmpov is that it ups the amount of parts made in US on auto parts for vehicles to be sold in the US from 50% to 75%. Also that the deal increases the amount of agricultural goods Mexico has to purchase.Β

This upping of purchasing negates much of the harms by Mexico from its citizens, whom it encourages to do so, illegally migrating here to work farm labor positions and send $$ out of our economy. Either way now, Mexico pays for that encouraged practice πŸ‘πŸ‘.Β

This deal is a win for both sides, but its a major win for the US. Betting man would go with Trudeau ending his teenage antics, and coming running to the table so as to not be left out in the lurchπŸ‘πŸ’―πŸ˜‚.Β

Meanwhile, Chinas already sweaty selves get even sweatier in the realization that as a nation we are quickly setting up deals that will make China relatively expendable as a trade partner. Can you hear the buttholes pucker? πŸ˜‚

Β setting up deals that will make China relatively expendable as a trade partner.
and that is the key, playing both ends against the middle.Β  Though I don't know how the minimum wage for auto workers can be monitored for compliance, but that would be a huge pay raise for those in Mexico I would think.Β
If you get the same product for the same quality at the same price who cares where it's made.Β  Mexico has a huge opportunity to fill in the gaps while Trudeau is wringing his hands.Β  If I was the leader of Mexico I'd totally undercut or otherwise take away as much from Canada as possible, I mean what is Trudeau going to do about it other than cry?

The new president elect is gonna be hungry for some wins to lay out for re-election πŸ‘. And tbh, even if left leaning, if he is serious about cleaning up the cartels, its ok with me πŸ€”.Β

I don't expect this to survive Pena Nieto's term, but I'm fine with doing away with NAFTA.Β

What do you mean? I admittedly know little beyond some basic info when it comes to Nieto πŸ€”

Pena Nieto is as free trade as it is. Obrador is a classic Mexican socialist, who is likely to promote the return of publicly-owned industry and may give Trudeau more trouble on the energy sector than he's given the Trump administration. He probably took part in these negotiations in an effort to make his changes easier to implement upon his term beginning rather than if Pena Nieto negotiated alone.

And unless a three-way deal is negotiated by the end of the week, the U.S. Congress will not be able to approve it by the time Obrador takes office, meaning an actual trade deal might not arise until December, at which point the U.S. Congress won't be able to approve the trade deal until the next one is sworn in. This is due to the fact that Congress must take 90 days to review any trade deal changes before approving them.

In the press announcement Trump said it was going forward with or without Canada. I was watching it, but here is a BBC article about it

Sounds like the plan is to either get Canada to agree by the deadline, or go ahead with a new one with Mexico to the exclusion of Canada.Β

But, I think a deal gets agreed to with Canada by the deadline πŸ‘Œ[1]

So it sounds like that may be a reason why this full speed ahead mentality is being adopted in terms of the deal πŸ€”

And pretty soon the Yankee will be working for the same pittance the Mexican does, here comes indentured labour. Hoorah.

Yeah, I don't understand how people are construing this as a negative. Free trade isn't categorically beneficial.

Trade is complicated. Every imposition or removal of a trade barrier has numerous costs and benefits. It makes no sense to say that globalization is always good and protectionism is always bad. There's a reason why international trade deals are negotiated so thoroughly, at such a detailed level -- the complexity of trade policy demands a nuanced consideration of every action on an individual, case-by-case basis.

Canada has caved and joined. 1.2 trillion worth of trade shifting to US. But everybody is actually winning out of this. πŸ‘πŸ‘

Trump is legitly doing better than most any other president on economics and trade fmpov.

Meanwhile, Chinas butthole is almost fully puckered cause we've secured deals with most of our major trading partners. The big ones of EU, South Korea, and Mexico/Canada are done. Wonder when we're gonna get around to the Phillipines and Japan 😏.

True, its not categorically beneficial. However the US is in a position fmpov where we do benefit greatly from free trade. I do agree that it doesn't make much sense to me how this is being construed as negative and or being brushed under the table. But such is the nature of the loony left πŸ˜‚

If we had free trade, we wouldn't need to negotiate a deal in the first place. The MSM conveniently ignores the tariffs and extortions for concessions and technology other countries impose on the US.

It's funny, trump fixes 30 year old trade problems with the outdated Nafta...and MSM just wants to talk about the Ford shitshow.

People know what has a real impact on their life. Trump still hasn't ended the world as we know it. He only ended American Socialism as we know it.

Β He only ended American Socialism as we know it.

Man I hope you are right.Β  While I often cringe from what and how he says stuff, this would be an opportune time to call out all the chicken littles who wanted NAFTA and make them eat crow.Β  He should really take the time to subtly and eloquently make them look like the fools they are.Β  he deserves that victory lap.

Well it's weird how he did it though. He forced the left fringe to stop dogwhistling socialism and actually come out of the closet Ocasio style.

Now that Socialism is out in the open, the fringe left can be rightfully ridiculed as the open borders, anti-wealth, anti-security,anti-nationalist, globalist egalitarian whackjobs they are.
