That was utter horseshit. I am absolutely certain I was correct to select detective for the winner to begin with and that a team that always cooperates will convince the copycats to get rid of the cheaters in real life and convert the remaining copycats into cooperators.

I know I chose right: Detective wins in 1vall but always cooperate wins in teamfight because always cheat gets ganged upon soon enough and all others convert into cooperators unless they are stubborn grudgers in which case the copycats and detectives handle them. The detectives are blackmailed into taming and everyone becomes 'always cooperate'.

Copycats don't win in life, you can easily outsmart them as a detective player, I don't know what on earth that thing tried to prove.

The only time it was correct is copykitten wins against the other types... it's basically a properly evolved version of detective and emulates always cooperate quite well.

Do you think the detective would win in an environment that was 50% always cooperators and 50% detectives? [LINK]

I think the flaw in this framework is that in "real life" you aren't forced to play against every other player.

A detective would identify the always cooperators and exploit them (to death) while avoiding other detectives.

I think that what would happen is they'd evolve into copykittens with one another (the detectives) and the AC win, again, by peer pressure and incentivising detectives to convert.

I like it, though I've heard of that game theory before.
It being taught as a step through step video game with explanations is a new way to me.
My score was 34, I played like a grudger.
Also thought like RationalMadman, that the detective would win.
Ah well, I didn't pay that much attention to the rules of the game, depending on the rules used, it makes sense I think.

Yes, I thought the same thing, yet, unexpectedly, SCIENCE is often COUNTER-INTUITIVE.

I'd imagine that's due to science being 'exact, often.
Intuitions good for the right direction, I think, but can have difficulty working in a clean, precise way.

INTUITION is the only basis for HYPOTHESIS (PROTO-HYPOTHESIS).

But it is important to not fall into the trap of the "COMMON-SENSE" fallacy (faith in intuition).

Only a CON-ARTIST appeals to "COMMON-SENSE".
