Next, one of the obvious complex designs we see in the universe is the fine tuning of our solar system. The universe is designed in a way for us to live to make it hard to be a coincidence. For example, the ratio of electron to proton mass is 1:1836. If the number was any larger or smaller, molecules could not form and the universe would not exist. It is incredibly lucky that the mass of protons and electrons could form molecules in the universe. Or simply, God exists. In fact, almost everything we see in the universe points to the existence of God:

  1. Carbon and oxygen nuclei have finely tuned energy levels.

  1. Electromagnetic and gravitational forces are finely tuned, so the right kind of star can be stable.

  1. Our sun is the right colour. If it was redder or bluer, photosynthetic response would be weaker.

  1. Our sun is also the right mass. If it was larger, its brightness would change too quickly and there would be too much high energy radiation. If it was smaller, the range of planetary distances able to support life would be too narrow; the right distance would be so close to the star that tidal forces would disrupt the planet’s rotational period. UV radiation would also be inadequate for photosynthesis.

  1. The earth’s distance from the sun is crucial for a stable water cycle. Too far away, and most water would freeze; too close and most water would boil.

  1. The earth’s gravity, axial tilt, rotation period, magnetic field, crust thickness, oxygen/nitrogen ratio, carbon dioxide, water vapour and ozone levels are just right.

Last, remarkably the sun is 400 times larger than the moon and 400 times farther away from the moon. So the moon and the sun appear almost the exact same in the sky of Earth. This is why solar and lunar eclipses exist. To conclude, the very precise measurements of what makes life compatible and what makes the universe exists is remarkably close,precise and consistent. Is this really a coincidence? No, there is no fundamental way to explain this, except that a supernatural being fine-tuned the universe.{LINK}

Coincidence is an explanation.

Hang on.
You could be right here doc. Let's check this.

OK Distance from the Sun?  Yes this is correct.

Earths gravity?  Spot on there to.
Nice
Nice.

Sun color,  correct. Wow thats three from three thus far.
looking good.

Ok sun size, sun size in relation to the moon, WTF. The sun is 400 times bigger.
I'll find something .

And with our perfect mix of carbon and oxygen.  CHECK.

Oh.  Hang on. STOP THE PRESS.
It was looking promising, but Here is where it goes wrong.

( IT'S ONLY COMMON SENSE THAT A GOD DOESN'T EXIST )
So ummmmm,  ' Kicks dirt '
Yeah,
But other then that, it's totally fine tuned...

Good game.
Good game.

Well nothing you said rules it out, so if it's not a possibility you have more work to do to demonstrate it. There are plenty of issues with the fine tuning argument, the biggest one is it baselessly assumes that - minus some intelligent designer - all features of the universe would otherwise be determined by independent, uniform distribution, random chance.

It false to consider that many of these features might not be independent, might not be subject to uniform distribution, and but not be chance at all.

So, one solar system (as far as we know) out of how many? Where circumstances enable the development of organic compounds and consequently life.

Absolutely amazing and inexplicable from the point of view of the human spectator.

And so?

The fine-tuning argument gets things backwards. The universe is not tuned to fit life. Life is tuned to fit the universe. If the universe were tuned differently, then any life that formed would be tuned differently..

It's often called puddle thinking. A puddle, observing the hole it fills, notes how perfectly the hole fits its shape, and concludes that the hole must have been designed just for it.

+1 and well said.  Yes, Dr.Franklin does read just like crossed when he retransmits the mythologies found on CMI just as crossed does. lots of “perfectly tuned”s

media bias/fact check rates CMI as an unreliable source of information: “Overall, we rate Creation Ministries International a quackery level pseudoscience website for promotion of unproven myths that are opposed to modern science.”

of course, we debaters have little grounds to criticize a statement of faith posted in the religion forum but I think it is reasonable to expect reliable, fact-based citations whatever the forum

Another example of puddle thinking. If the visible universe were likened to all the Earths oceans than it the explored portion of that ocean would amount to less than a single teardrop.  Scientists estimate that the visible universe represents perhaps 4% of the physical universe. Dr.Franklin is in effect a paramecium in a teardrop claiming the teardrop was made for him and denying the existence of great white sharks because he’s never seen one in his teardrop

so you are saying that this is only an estimate and not necessarily true?

” To conclude, the very precise measurements of what makes life compatible and what makes the universe exists is remarkably close, precise and consistent. Is this really a coincidence? No, there is no fundamental way to explain this, except that a supernatural being fine-tuned the universe.”

You are now calling this an estimation?

how do you think the universe came to be?

Insufficient data   I’d like to observe the formation of 3 or 4 universes before drawing any conclusions.

I have made no claim.  I said I’d like to observe 3 or 4 before making conclusions. I would not presume to know the number of universes but you have so presumed without any evidence.

For the same reason a comic repeats the normal state three or four times before making us laugh with a surprising alteration:  3 is the bare minimum for establishing a pattern. Four improves confidence in the pattern considerably. I wouldn’t mind having data on hundreds of genesises but I assume that universes are relatively expensive to reproduce.

Life is only present here, there are no signs of ANY life anywhere EVER. The universe was designed for us becuase if the universe was designed for different life species, why dont we see them and why is it just us>
This reasoning is flawed on several levels.

First off, saying the universe was designed for us ignores the millions of other species on Earth. If you want to go that route, then the universe is better designed for insects than for us, since there are so many more insects.

Second, even assuming life exists on only one minuscule planet, that is hardly an argument for design. Quite the opposite. It means the vast majority of the universe is hostile to our kind of life.

Third, it ignores the central flaw of the fine tuning argument, which is puddle thinking.
