It's official. As of tonight the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is no longer a member state of the European Union. It took 3 1/2 years after the initial referendum to get here, but now Parliament can say they actually followed through. Some Brits are celebrating, others are mourning. What nobody can deny is that the island nation's future trajectory is more unclear now than it has been in a long time.

Brexit isn't done until the last Brexit meme dries up and dies, returning to the dark pit from whence it came.

I estimate another four years or so.

Brexit seems to be a cautionary tale to those in government who continue to say the public cannot be trusted with major decisions.

History is made is literally anything that happens that is in the past.

I think a higher inflation would be a likely negative to Brexit.

actually, it very strongly reinforces that idea. A bunch of liars were able to convince stupid people to do a very stupid thing. Governments all over the world have learned that asking the country if they want to do stupid thing is a horrible plan.

it's not authoritarian to not add stupid questions to a referendum. If the people want to do something stupid badly enough, they will vote for a party that wants to fight for it. The conservatives were idiots. They put up a referendum on something incredibly stupid and tore their country apart.

I can't wait for the authoritative superdelegates to undo the stupidity of the people selecting Bernie Sanders.

That won't tear the DNC apart...at...all...

And yet, you are from the party that wants mob rule democracy for presidential elections by getting rid of the electoral college.

Give me a break. You convince stupid people that you will give them a bunch of free crap and that the evil corporations/their owners will pay for it. When the majority of the public is against something you like, you say they cannot be trusted. But when they want something you support like universal healthcare or some debt bailout, "hey man, respect the will of the people".

You agreed that "the public cannot be trusted with major decisions". Interesting mental gymnastics.
