I know this person who was right wing solely because of his stance on the death penalty.  I'm like, "there are other issues".  The death penalty is such a small issue.  It affects very few people compared to the others and the murderer is going to get treated bad either way.  I would consider the death penalty to be less of an issue than say abortion or medicare for all or weed or trade deals.  Why do some people value/are against the death penalty so badly?  As a math person, it's such a small issue.

The real issue was you using “effects” instead of “affects”. Grammar is my no.1 political issue.

Regarding grammar, shouldn't "no. 1" be written as "number one" or "No. 1"?

Oh, so now we’re grammar policing? How rude!

The biggest flaw with the death penalty is the risk of killing someone only to find out they were innocent, so we have to either improve our ability to pinpoint criminals so we don't sentence the wrong person, or remove the death penalty for everyone who does not admit to a crime and have irrefutable proof against them.

@Christen
Why give any murderer the death penalty when we can make them donate enough blood to save 8 other people per year?  If we let the murderer live, we can their blood and use it to save hundreds of people over the course of the murderer's life per murderer.  If they turn out to be innocent, they get freed and paid for the amount of time they served and blood they donated.  Meanwhile, they helped save dozens of other people.

This is why I oppose the death penalty, even if we know the person did the murder.

Thoughts?
