snti-chrostinay [sic]

That term only applies to Christians. I made it clear in my post that I was asking for a term that denotes bigotry against religions in general and only used Christianity as an example. For instance "racism" denotes bigotry against  a race or races but does not denotes which particular race or races is the target of said bigotry.

Does such a term not exist then?

Well, some religions are considered nationalities, races, or ethnicities per a recent executive order (1). The order protected Jews from anti-antisemitism under title VI the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which protects nationality, race, and ethnicity, but not religion. So, should this executive order extend to other religions? Also, is the discrimination faced by Muslims throughout the Western world largely due to their skin color? Preconceptions about what a Muslim looks like tend to create skewed schemas. So a Muslim with Brown skin may experience more discrimination then say, a white-skinned Muslim. In the latter case, it may be that people simply assume that Muslims cannot be white, or that the probability of meeting a white Muslim is slim.

Bigotry is bigotry.

Separate words are unnecessary.

And Islamophobia is not bigotry....Two different words with two different meanings.

Bigotry is an inward thing relative to the bigot.

The process of thinking is such that bigotry or intolerance is self contained.

Similarly, a third party awareness of said bigotry is also self contained.

Bigotry manifesting as active opposition to something is probably best defined by using the "Anti" prefix, as suggested by Dr Franklin.

"Snti-chrostinay"...Well, I assume that they were trying to say Anti-Christian.

A Phobia is an irrational fear or aversion....Another internal data construct....But not necessarily one that results in intolerance.

One is extremely fearful of spiders....Arachnophobia....Though one is wholly tolerant of a spiders existence for example.

We should invent a new word to be the equivalent of "racism" for religions.

I understand your "anti" proposition but it simply doesn't cover what I am asking in my question.

Let me demonstrate:

A person who is anti-black is racist.
A person who is anti-female is sexist.
A person who is anti-hindu is______???

Well.

Tough one, because of the ambiguity of the English language, using the "ist"  suffix directly doesn't work and in fact sort of means the opposite.

So Anti-Hindu is therefore probably the best available option.

So if you want to create a specific word, then feel free to do so.

Hmmmm…..How about Theoantism…..Therefore, Hinduantism.

Religious Discrimination is the usual term. However, someone may be racist against various the Arab groups but call them Muslims.

There's also some blurred lines where ethnicity and religion cross, ethnic Jews for example.

It's a big complex world, and best not to be a hater no matter the label.

I would consider being Muslim a race only cause of geographic location. They also identify on the Census as being a race (I filled out the Census you can't debate me on this), but I think a lot of people use the term of "being racist" to Muslims too often. Saying that Islam is a peaceful religion is an ignorant lie. The religion preaches for violence on non believers and within family. It is not their religion that advocates for peace, but it is the moral decency within the person to not go out and kill people. A Muslim person would not go out and kill people out of human decency and evolved laws. The people are peaceful, but the violent people are technically not sinners in the Quran. It is fair to say the people who practice Islam are peaceful, but it is not accurate to say "Islam is a religion of peace."

The census is wrong, they include indians with the same race as the Japanese, it is objectively wrong

I think that you perhaps have a stylised picture of a Muslim in your head, maybe derived from media images rather than from personal experience.

A bit like an Iranian Muslim assuming that all Christians are White Caucasian.

Interestingly though, the ethnic mix and physical characteristics of the Iranian people is quite diverse. Which isn't surprising if you study Persian/Iranian history within the context of the wider Middle Eastern region.

Islam is a religion and a Muslim is an adherent to Islam and anyone of any race, skin tone or ethnicity can be or become a Muslim.
