I think they should support free contraception.  It reduces abortions by a huge amount.

Well contraceptions(including condoms) should obviously be free. Those Christian conservatives who takes the bible verse as seriously as I interpret the forum posts thinks everyone has the responsibility of just not having sex for the most part, but ignores that sex is a crucial part of a married life. They don't give you the remedy then bashes you for having your own remedy. Contraceptions should obviously be more accessible for people.

Only 3% of the US population waits until marriage to have sex, so most Christian conservatives also don't wait until marriage.  If your going to have sex, make sure the girl is on a working IUD or something to prevent an abortion from taking place.

Yup. Wating till marriage and doing less sex are seriously unrealistic expectations. Like if they don't make you feel good we will obey those. Our lives are driven by happiness and such.

I think I can wait until marraige, but given that 97% of people don't wait, I can't effectively force it on everyone else.

I think abortions should be banned beyond 6 weeks into pregnancy; it's when the cells specialize.  But I would focus on contraception in order to hopefully kick abortions off of the face of the planet.

I agree. Banning abortions is not the point, using contraceptions is the point. Well I am generally pro-choice but just aborting no matter what isn't moral at all.

I would draw the line in about when the fetus can feel pain.

I'd draw the line at cell specialization, around 6 weeks into pregnency.

If pain mattered to intrinsic value, than it would be justified to kill anybody you hate via any painless method.  We don't shoot people for being on welfare, even though they are a burden to society similar to how a fetus is a burden to a mother.

And if the mother doesn't want the kid, it's what adoption is for.

If you're going to have sex, make sure that you've got a condom.

Why do you expect that "the girl" should be the one that takes responsibility for your sexual urges.

Condoms...No invasive procedures necessary....Buy online if you're to embarrassed to go to the store and always have one in your pocket for that opportune moment.

I would suggest that irresponsible men are perhaps the biggest cause of unwanted pregnancy, and yet the girl is the one that always has to carry the can.... And yet males seem to be the biggest pontificators on abortion issues.

Why not?  Contraceptions reduce abortions more than banning them has done on an international scale.  It's why Africa has a higher abortion rate than Europe despite abortions being banned on the continent.  Contraception should be a western fruit; i.e. something that the west does that no other civilization does that everyone should do.

Condoms and an IUD.  If the partner has HIV, then add PreP.

Girls get horny too.  Both the male and the female should take precautions.

An IUD is less invasive than an abortion is.

There are many pro life men but there are also many pro life women.  There is very little correlation between abortion stance and gender.

Generations come and go and so do traditions.

We have a tendency to pick and choose though.

Nonetheless, abortion has become a tradition.

And so has anti-abortion.

Of course it is. The first recorded evidence of induced abortion is from 1550 BCE....Even more traditional that Christianity for example.

It must be or you wouldn't be arguing about.

I think that what you mean is, that it's a tradition you are not interested in.

Similarly a lot of Americans are not interested in your anti-abortion tradition.

Nonetheless you are happy to adopt a 2000 year old Middle Eastern tradition, and dismiss an even more traditional  3550 year old Middle Eastern tradition.

Some might refer to this as double standards...I refer to it as selective morality....

Yep, one of thousands of examples of tradition.

But not as traditional as abortion.

No they should not [provide contraception]
Why not?

ALSO.

Should the pro-lifers spend their time and money providing 9 months of free room and board and free medical care and adoption services for women who don't wish to be mothers?

Are you familiar with the concept "crisis pregnancy center"?
