Is it subjective or objective?

Is God our moral authority?

Is God our moral authority?

A moral authority should actually exist, first.

I think morality is subjective overall, but it's objective when specific to an event or action that has been committed.

I am not sure what you mean.

Do you think there are some things that are just plain "wrong" in all circumstances?

That's a difficult one overall, but I would suspect anything to do with harming others is a good start.

Is God our moral authority?
If you believe in bible god and you believe that infanticide and genocide are morally righteous the you can have him as your moral authority just as mass murderers and child rapists do.
It's not for me because I'm a human.

Then why talk about a god who doesn't claim to be the basis of morality? Or do you have a god that makes such a claim.

My God hasn't made any claim. From my experience, he SEEMS to be our moral authority. I suspect He is.

Without a better definition of delusion I do not know if I can agree with your assessment and I still don't agree that it make you qualified to speak on her behalf even if you are right.

Then we cannot say if god is moral by that standard. If we cannot say that god is moral we cannot say that god is a moral authority.

Morality comes from loving The Truth.

If you love The Truth, you will come to realize that you are wrong, even when you were sincerely believing to be right.

Having this real humility that comes from a realization of one's own faultiness, we forgive others for their faults, for if we condemn them, we really condemn ourselves for being no better.

Morality comes from love of The Truth. Truth is the standard.
That is why Jesus says that loving your neighbor as yourself is a commandment like unto loving God with all your heart, soul, and mind.

What does it mean for someone outside ourselves to be a moral authority?  If someone else tells you what is and is not moral, then are you practicing morality or simply following directions?

I think of morality as fundamentally intertwined with the well-being of sentient beings. An action is right to the extent that it tends to promote such well-being, and wrong to the extent that it tends to decrease such well-being.

So it comes down to whether well-being is subjective or objective. I tend to think it is both. There are many components of well-being. Some are objective, like health. Some are subjective, like personal fulfillment.

It's both. You can't make sense of it if it is only one or the other.

I mean, morality that is only objective is meaningless to anyone who cares to participate in it and it wouldn't be informative or prescriptive or rhetorical... in other words it would be purely descriptive when one of the most salient features of morality is that its focus is on what should be done rather than what is done.

Morality as it pertains to right and wrong might be said to be objective.  As referenced to good and evil people often rely upon subjective conditions to lend their perspective.  God's authority is independent of our acknowledgement.
