A DAY IN THE LIFE OF SUE, A REPUBLICAN
Sue gets up at 6 a.m. and fills her coffeepot with water to prepare her morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards.
With her first swallow of coffee, she takes her daily medication. Her medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised.
All but $10 of her medications are paid for by her employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Sue gets it too.
She prepares her morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Sue's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.
In the morning shower, Sue reaches for her shampoo. Her bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for her right to know what she was putting on her body and how much it contained.
Sue dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air she breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air.
She walks to the subway station for her government-subsidized ride to work. It saves her considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Sue begins her work day. She has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Sue's employer pays these standards because Sue's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.
If Sue is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, she'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think she should lose her home because of her temporary misfortune.
Its noontime and Sue needs to make a bank deposit so she can pay some bills. Sue's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Sue's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.
Sue has to pay her Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and her below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Sue and the government would be better off if she was educated and earned more money over her lifetime.
Sue is home from work. She plans to visit her father this evening at his farm home in the country. She gets in her car for the drive. Her car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards. She arrives at her childhood home. Her generation was the third to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.
She is happy to see her father, who is now retired. Her father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Sue wouldn't have to.
Sue gets back in her car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Sue enjoys throughout her day. Sue agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm self-made and believe everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."

Well my daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to Ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze
Now, I don't blame him 'cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me "Sue"

Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk
It seems I had to fight my whole life through
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue"

Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean
My fist got hard and my wits got keen
Roam from town to town to hide my shame
But I made me a vow to the moon and stars
I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
And kill that man who gave me that awful name

Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry
I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew
At an old saloon on a street of mud
There at a table, dealing stud
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me "Sue"

Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye
He was big and bent and gray and old
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said: "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do!?
Now you gonna die!"
Yeah that's what I told 'em

Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise
He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear
But I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer

I tell ya, I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss
He went for his gun and I pulled mine first
He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile

And he said, "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I know I wouldn't be there to help ya along
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong"

Yeah he said, "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do
But ya ought to thank me, before I die
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
'Cause I'm the son-of-a-bitch that named you "Sue"

Yeah what could I do, what could I do
I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
Called him my Pa, and he called me his son
And I come away with a different point of view
And I think about him, now and then
Every time I try and every time I win
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him
Bill or George! Anything but Sue! I still hate that name! Yeah

Sue’s young boy is a drag queen/gender-confused makeup artist who hates their evil oppressive White self because their liberal teacher taught them to be that way.

Sue’s husband got killed by an illegal alien since the liberal government refused to deport them and made the process of acquiring a good weapon for self-defense very complex.

Sue no longer lives in a serious nation because liberals made degeneracy and inclusion at all costs a religion that cannot be questioned.

Sue lost her job because all of the expensive regulations and taxes made her company uncompetitive.

Now Sue and her drag queen son live on the streets because rent control and regulations reduced the availability of housing.

Thanks, liberals!

Republican and Democrat are just labels that people apply to themselves every four years....Fortunately the majority of Americans are still reasonably moderate, and all have the same basic expectations and aspirations when they get up in the morning....Liberty being one of those expectations.

Drag Queens and Gender Confused individuals have always been with us... And so have  certain over zealous and self righteous tyrants who can't handle the fact, and they would  prefer to deny those confused people the right to their liberty.

I don’t like the term “freedom of choice”. It is meant to sound good but it is way too broad.

Anti-murder laws infringe on your right to choose to murder people.

Anti-transgender bathroom choice laws are mainly to protect female children. That, and the term “bathroom” doesn’t appear in the Constitituion.

I appreciate your attempt at “Republicans and Democrats are the same....” but that is too idealistic, unfortunately.
Back in the day, I’m sure that applied in an America where both parties and their voters had the same general goals and values. That isn’t the case anymore.

It used to be that both parties agreed on many basic things like English should be mandatory, we should follow the Bill of Rights, patriotism is important because our country is great, etc.

Now, we have Spanish on our official documents, one party has large support for hate speech laws, one party supports strong gun control, one party’s leaders laud the ruffians in our streets burning American flags, and a large portion of Democrats aren’t even against “socialism” as opposed to “capitalism” anymore.

That isn’t to demonize Democrats-even though I’m 100% biased against them- that is to point out that, without the same basic values, you can’t really say that we’re all just the same and can come together for change. Not in an increasingly partisan and multicultural state. In an ethnically and religiously diverse state, all you can have is conflict.

so?

one party has large support for hate speech laws
and one party has large support for hate speech, that would be the much bigger issue.

one party supports strong gun control
I think most people support common sense gun control. There is a difference of opinion of where that line should be, but i think most people can agree that having to pass a training course and a background check is reasonable. But the republican party tries to obstruct any kind of reform at all.

one party’s leaders laud the ruffians in our streets
yeah, the republicans. They love those gun toting "proud boys" who try to attack and kill protesters

a large portion of Democrats aren’t even against “socialism” as opposed to “capitalism” anymore.
America has always had socialism. Public schools, that's socialism. The fact that republicans hate a word they don't even understand is the much bigger issue.

That isn’t to demonize Democrats-even though I’m 100% biased against them- that is to point out that, without the same basic values, you can’t really say that we’re all just the same and can come together for change.
none of these things are differences in basic values. Xenophobia isn't a value. both sides are against (or at least claim to be against, the republicans seem to cheer it on) violence in the streets.

They differ in certain policy goals. How much gun control is the right amount? No one thinks they should be handed out on the street to every person that comes along, virtually no one thinks all guns should be banned. So everyone agrees some amount of gun control is needed, it is just how much that is at question.

the issue is not that there are fundamental differences in basic values, it is that polarizing language is being used by both sides to try to play up this divide. The leadership of both parties want you think that the other side is the "other". They are unreasonable and want to destroy your way of life, etc. That way you have no choice but to support them, even though you likely don't agree with alot of the things that leader wants to do. It is a political tactic, and it is causing huge damage.

Public schools are government programs that developed in the United States without need of socialist philosophy.  It just happens that they would share a common interest.

It is using public resources to help the poor. That is socialism. That is what the left wants. It is fundamentally no different that what america has done for centuries. They just want to increase the services offered to people. But right wing people act like it is somehow unamerican to do what america has always done, to do things that helped make america great.

Do you think america would be a world power without public schools? no. It would have a population unable to read, let alone innovate. Socialism has been critically important for america's success.

Socialist thought can intersect with other expressions of populism, and you may reach the same conclusion through two different approaches to a problem.

A socialist appealing to populist sentiments was probably being dishonest with you.  As a general rule, democrats never liked socialists either.

You can reach very bad conclusions from just capitalism, it's the mixed economic structure that America has that prevents that. The "Free-est market" would have no restrictions on businesses, they could do whatever they wanted so long as they were making profit. If that doesn't alarm you, it very much should.

you seem to be missing my point, pure capitalism would be an unmitigated disaster. If you look at how the poor lived in the 18th and 19th century you can see a taste of that. Poor people usually didn't receive any education. If they got sick or injured they were just written off and on their own. Workplaces were often extremely dangerous because owners didn't want to put safety measures in place, etc.

Similarly, pure socialism also doesn't work. If you take away the rewards you get for doing well, then people are less inclined to work hard to excel. And a centralized economy simply isn't flexible enough to be effective.

To get a good system, you need to blend both. You need capitalism to drive growth and expansion. You need socialism to protect workers and the poor and society as a whole. Without socialism, you get a system where the rich crush the poor under foot in the name of profits, which is the direction the US is currently sinking.

how do you figure? without socialism there is no modern world. It was built with socialism. Public schools, public roads, public funded or subsidized healthcare. etc. Without socialism, america as you know it would not exist. It would be some 3rd world shit hole where most people can't read or write.

My research suggests that the original piece was submitted to a political blog called "Crooks and LIars" in July 2004 and was popularized by Thom Hartmann who read it a couple of times on his radio show and other broadcasts.

The original author seems to be John Gray ( [email protected]) who almost never gets credit for it.  The original title was "A Day in the Life of Joe Middle Class Republican" and I think the original text is fairly preserved here:  http://tvnewslies.org/tvnl/index.php/editorial/guest-commentary/21099-day-in-the-life-of-joe-middle-class-republican.html

I have been reiterating the historical fact that Americans arrived at these conclusions, and they were not necessarily "socialist".

That means socialists do not need to be relevant in order to talk about public schools, but they need to talk about public schools in order to be relevant.

Calling certain government programs "socialism" simply because they agree with them is unrealistic, and I wouldn't trust a political figure advocating to speak this way.

Lol @ liberal teachers telling white people to hate themselves. File that under "stupid shit Republicans whine about but never happens." Please note that being a drag queen is pretty rad (they have great comedy shows), being a makeup artist isn't a bad thing, and being gender confused is a sad reality that has nothing to do with being liberal -- they just don't shame you for it. Caitlyn Jenner is a conservative.

Do Democrats advocate keeping violent criminals in the US? I haven't heard of that; they're usually looking to protect Dreamers and such. I also think weapons should be easier to get under certain circumstances (i.e. tort reform that makes it possible to sue gun manufacturers for negligence the way you can sue the manufacturers of other dangerous products). But that of course would make it easier for everyone to get guns, including "degenerate" groups or more dangerous folks like terrorists and ANTIFA.

And speaking of degenerates, what does "not living in a serious nation" mean? Sounds like some people hate America! If they don't like it, maybe they should leave?! Perhaps go to a less expensive country with a lower tax rate. The options are: Mexico, Thailand, Singapore, Poland, Kenya, Albania, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Hungary. Which one would you choose? I'd probs pick one of those cuz the only other options are way too liberal - Canada and New Zealand.

I agree rent control is pretty dumb, but it doesn't actually increase homelessness just because prices go up and rental vacancy goes down. I know that sounds counterintuitive but they've done research on it. Usually it protects the poorest and most vulnerable while fucking over the middle class, as many policies do. Womp womp.

Hey why do you hate liberals so much? Just curious.

No, it actually happens a lot. It is most common in college. They blame every bad thing currently in black peoples’ lives on white people. White people are evil oppressors and we are somehow uniquely bad because of slavery, even though the North African slave trade enslaved more white people.

Just check out all of the white people who have raised black power fists, kiss/washed boots of black people, and groveled at them since the beginning of the year. It goes much deeper than that, but those are the most visible signs.

Do Democrats advocate keeping violent criminals in the US? I haven't heard of that; they're usually looking to protect Dreamers and such.
Biden said there will be at least a 100 day moratorium on deportations, no matter what they have done. California refuses to work with ICE to help deport illegal aliens.

How are gun manufacturers negligent that they should be sued for?

And speaking of degenerates, what does "not living in a serious nation" mean? Sounds like some people hate America! If they don't like it, maybe they should leave?! I wouldn’t mind living in Hungary or Poland.

But, I’d say the people who want to pervert what America has always been and was meant to be should leave first.

I agree rent control is pretty dumb, but it doesn't actually increase homelessness just because prices go up and rental vacancy goes down. I know that sounds counterintuitive but they've done research on it. Usually it protects the poorest and most vulnerable while fucking over the middle class, as many policies do. Womp womp.
I’m familiar with it being associated with dilapidated housing and housing shortages. I could be wrong. I’ll look into it.

Hey why do you hate liberals so much? Just curious.
Because of their crap, I will soon not be proud to be an American. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to become an anti-white version of Brazil.
