This string was inspired by Fr. Franklin's topic from a year ago, "AI will kill us all." In this string, I am saying the GND will also kill us all. Here's why:
In a movie from 2019, "Io" [as in Jupiter's volatile moon]

"In a post-apocalyptic time, the earth has been rendered toxic, and most of humanity has abandoned the planet and colonised one of Jupiter's moons, IO. But young scientist Sam Walden has stayed behind and dedicated herself to finding a way for human beings to survive on Earth." [from a film critic  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3256226/

Another critic said, "The amount of the stuff happens in this movie is perfect for a short film. Unfortunately it is now just 90 minutes of boredom."

What I found fascinating is that in the first two minutes of an obvious morality tail about the sins of environmental destruction, which only the GND will solve, Sam, our intrepid female scientist, gathers water from a puddle in the street on toxic Earth to test it. The test doesn't matter because Sam, in an absent moment not edited out of the morality tale that should have been on the cutting room floor, tossing the wrapper of the glass vial... in a recycling bin? God, no! on the street, of course!

When we actually do land on Mars to colonize it, we will discover, to our shame, an ancient, long-since decimated intelligent culture. We will find record of the sad story of their effort to revive a dying civilization due to something they called "climate change," and had something similar to the GND. They succeeded in eliminating all emissions, reaching a net-zero condition by eliminating all sources of methane emission: all living things. Congratulations. life finds a way, even if it must come from Earth, and all our recycling.

I'm not sure you know that the Green New Deal is not a specific set of proposals.  AOC released a 14 page proposal that received 0 democratic votes in Congress (including AOC).

So your thesis is that any proposed legislation referred to as a "Green New Deal" will necessary end  all life on this planet even before any specific proposal is offered.  Doesn't sound very open minded to me.  What if the Green New Deal was just another tax cut for wealthy old white guys, wouldn't you want it then?

Your evidence for this close minded claim is that a character in a movie once littered....seems pretty incoherent to me.

@oromagi

introduced in Congress 2/7/2019, "Recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal."

It is not open minded; that's the point. A net-zero condition is exactly as described in my Mars scenario

If a character in an obvious morality tale about the sins of ignoring environment litters as contrary to her hopes to still find some evidence that Earth can be restored tells all I need to know about the closed mind of a Greenie. The mistake [I wonder if that was adlib, or was the toss in the script? - it is, at least, a film, and message editing snafu] is what it is. Either way, a poor message. A piss poor message.

GND and nett-zero are just expectations of human behaviour, in response to observations of the effects of human behaviour..... And could be considered no more or less an evolutionary certainty than Hiroshima or WWW.

Take smoking for example (once the panacea)..... Would you say that observations of the effects of smoking on human health was a "piss poor message"?

No, because you do not need to create models to observe the direct effects of smoking on human anatomical systems. Not so with climate change. Create a flawed model, you have flawed results. for example, the current model of climate change establishes a baseline from a random period: 1950 to 1980. Who says that period is exemplary of the climate of Earth over the billions of years of its existence? more to the point, AOC's white paper that was the launching vehicle for HR-109 stipulated 5 actionables. One of then. was called participatory budgeting, i.e., creating a federal commission to oversee private industry budgeting. What the hell has that to do with climate? What it is a pure socialism. What better way for government to occupy the function of private industry than to mess with its budgeting? that's a model of politics, not environment.

It was once blacks, then the coming ice age, then communism, then over population, then nuclear weapons
that was going to kill us all. Each new hysteria claiming to have "science" behind it.

The environmental fad (yes, I said fad) will go the way of all the other fads before it. It will slowly fizzle and fade away, and the left will manufacture yet another fad to go bonkers about. There is a new crop of now 10 year olds who will be ripe for the gaslighting in 15 years.

Yep, that's it in a nutshell. But why are we so entangled in wanting to fix everything, when we know little about everything? If we all took personal responsibility for all we say and do, we would quickly see that our choices have been flawed.

Problematic issues are perceived and pro-active people address them....Whilst others pass the time of day doing more mundane things such as moaning and ranting about said problematic issues and wasting their time praying to imaginary GODs for a solution to everything....Oh and worrying about their bank balance and anything that might affect their comfy lives.

Not to fret.....Death and stress free oblivion is on the horizon my dear friends.....Let's hope we can make it there without too much fuss.

There are three kinds of people in the world;
make things happen
watch what happens
wonder what happened.
living in the third world is not my idea of a good journey.

I'm assuming that you were fortunate, not to be born in the "Third World".

I always thank my lucky stars that I was born in the U.K. in the 1960's.
