So we read a lot about the misconceptions and passages within the Gospels that people don't like much or wish to debate. But, what are the passages, verses, teachings, parables or illustrations of the teachings of Jesus are your favorite or that you happen to like most? There aren't really any that I dislike, but there are definitely some that are my favorites. Post yours if you have any you really like...or want to discuss.

These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come;glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

Indeed , Jesus also begged his “father" to relieve him of his burden and was totally ignored.

. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me;
Which happen to be a jumbled up mess of contradictions, anomalous verses, meaningless nonsense on the surface and ambiguous half stories.

and they have received them,
And found them to be nonsense. For instance; why didn’t you, Lord simply eradicate all of leprosy instead of  curing just a few lepers? And why did you waste a perfectly good miracle on “turning water into wine” when there were thousands of sick and crippled and about at the time, and thousands of women dying in childbirth.

and have known surely that I came out from thee,
Yes well, that's debatable. Ethang5 doesn’t believe they are god inspired words or that they came from god and he should know, shouldn’t he?

and they have believed that thou didst send me.

Not quite every one, that is just a lie and or wishful thinking.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear … “Matthew 6:25)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
$150 billion +

Church of England
$7.8 billion

Opus Dei (part of the Catholic Church)
$2.8 billion

Church of Scientology
$2.0 billion
 Vatican
££££ Trillions

We have to wonder why if as it was believed that the “end is nigh” , then what the hell was the point of giving to the poor?
But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind,

If Jesus had simply healed all crippled, and lame and blind and seen to it that "the poor" were given employment and a fair wage there wouldn't have been any  need for charity in the first place.

Better still, god should not have created the crippled and lame and poor and blind people in the first place.

I wouldn't say that was "debating " with a 2000 year old dead man, Mopac. No, what I have wrote is a direct response to your sycophantic fawning over a man that has been  dead over 2,000 years, at your  post 2 above. How about you adress the content.

I have no need to respond to your commentary, I am secure that you expose yourself as perverse, and I don't believe that my words will lead you to repent.

So it's vain.

All I will tell you is that whatever you believe, it is not what the church teaches.

Jhn 10:17 - “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.

Jhn 10:18 - “No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

Just awesome.

I simply posted John chapter 17

You did and what a load of sycophantic twaddle  you have posted. Dp you not realise how superstitious t people were over 2,000 years ago. Do you actually believe the population in general understood the concept of a coma say or even unconsciousness? You forget these illiterate people believed that it was  god causes volcanoes to erupt and tidal waves to occur simply because the priests told them they had been very naughty?  Do you believe this too?

I have no need to respond to your commentary,
And I would not expect anymore from a fawning sycophant such as yourself. I understand that these very basic questions I have added to my post are an embarrassment to you. But they are basic questions that my own children and grandchildren have asked yet you, in the 21st century  simply cannot face these awkward questions never mind  answer them

I am secure that you expose yourself as perverse,
being curious and wanting answers is not perverse you clown. jesus himself asked over 120 questions himself. How is it that he is not perverse yet I am, according to you.

and I don't believe that my words will lead you to repent.
Not while you fail miserably to adress these simply yet embarrassing questions, I feel I have nothing to repent for. Besides all my sins have been paid for in blood , haven't they? So what have I to worry about. Jesus still wants me for a sunbeam as far as I know. This is what my teachers told me when I was a child.

So it's vain.
No, that will be pompous sycophantic clows such as yourself

All I will tell you is that whatever you believe, it is not what the church teaches.

Yes I know.  That is because the church has never spoken the whole truth about The Christ.

Let me ask you a grown ups question seeing that you don't like the baby questions.

Tell me, why is it do you think, that  the church has spent £££££billions of worshippers hard earned donations on building Observatories all around the world?

After all, if everything is said to be in god's good hands, then why are they spending ££££ billions peering into god's living room when the money should be going to what it intended for , the poor?

Take your time.

I know you know. Please don't be surprised I believe the church and not some online wingnut.

That is because the church has never spoken the whole truth about The Christ.
You wouldn't know the truth of Christ if it bit you on the nose. I don't need you to know the truth of Christ, it is in His word, which you twist and oppose.

You also obviously don't know the Church of Christ.

...the money should be going to what it intended for , the poor?
The "Church of Christ" follows the dictates of it's King, Jesus. What it does is not subject to your review or evaluation in any way.

Read this slowly because of your reading comprehension problem.

I am not Catholic.

Take your time.
I always do, as I don't have to respond to your commentary. It's called freedom.

The Roman church broke away from the Orthodox Church. All these other protestant churches broke away from Rome. I wonder why?

Christ is king, not the Roman patriarch.

Meanwhile, what, 20 million orthodox Christians alone killed in the last century?

Church of martyrs.

Well, the Roman pontificus maximus seems like a nice guy. Tough job, eh? They add too much to the religion and they don't even let their priests marry. No wonder they have so many problems.

Butt you know, the Roman Patriarch's schismatic church IS Christianity. Shame that is.

What makes more sense to you, that 4 patriarch broke off from 1 or that 1 patriarch broke off from 4?

The New Testament is written in Greek, not latin. Just saying.

How many countless Christians even has the Roman church killed? How many wars have they declared?

Let me repeat this... in the last century, over 20 million orthodox Christians were martyred.

Who was killing all these Christians? Atheists. Communists. Oh, and Muslims too actually.

Then people wonder why socialism and communism tends to freak out the Christians. Islamic government. It's not even that far back in history, there are people alive today who remember it. I know many personally.

But really, The Roman Catholic Church is Christianity to a lot of people, and they lost communion with the other Christian Churches because they wanted to make their Pope King of Christendom when Christ is King over Christendom.

Of the four different Christian denominations that arose in the First century, which of them was the "Church of Christ"; Jewish Christianity, Hellenistic Christianity, Apocalyptic Christianity, or early Catholicism?

hahhahahahhah  oh stop it!!!// Jesus was Jew. He was king of Jews. He was High Priest of the Jewish temple and Head of the Jewish nation. He would have been appalled at the fact  a whole new church and religion has sprung up in his name. James the Just, brother of the Christ was an early leader of the Jerusalem Church of the Apostolic Age after jesus was crucified.

Jesus was never deified by Jews.

You really ought to study your beliefs more closely and deeply. You are the poorest student of religious study that I have even had the pleasure to come across.  Regurgitating passages from the scriptures and repeating parrot fashion what some church elder has fed into your tiny pea brain has done you no favours. Now how about addressing these little anomalies?

Tell me, why is it do you think, that  the church has spent £££££billions of worshippers hard earned donations on building Observatories all around the world?

"But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes."

And really, that is the reason you are asking these questions to begin with. Gender strife.

The scriptures advise me not to answer your questions.

I love you, and hope that you come into repentence to acknowledgment of The Truth.

Salvation is from God.
