About me

Born in Canada, immigrant to the USA. Former combat medic, recent graduate of business.
When it comes to debating, I do have a flare for sprinkling in humor even when quite serious. I mostly debate when there is a strong disagreement, one which cannot be resolved via conventional dialog. Like many others, I migrated from Debate.org (DDO). While I hope this site flourishes, I sadly no longer have the time to invest in hardcore debates.
DDO general highlights:
1. Served on the Vote Review Board.
2. Wrote the site guide (http://goo.gl/CdSyLw).
3. Fixed the unvoted debate backlog (so that ones actually in need of votes could be found...).
4. Undefeated even while having multiple vote alliances made against me (88 debates not counting the occasional deleted one ... also while refusing the cheap free wins).
5. Only about 1800 forum posts (far less than my votes, 20.6 posts per debate). ... And yes, I believe mouth diarrhea is a bad thing.
DDO debate highlights:
1. "The World is Doomed" - https://www.debate.org/debates/The-world-is-doomed/1/
__ This was a trap debate, which I accepted against someone way more experienced, expecting to lose.
__ It showcases how to cleanly and systematically dismantle such cheap tactics.
2. "Star Trek: Get Rid of Holodecks" - https://www.debate.org/debates/Star-Trek-Get-rid-of-holodecks./1/
__ My first open challenge. It's a fun one, to which I would vote against myself were I in the audience.
3. "Trayvon Martin Would Still Have Died if White" - https://www.debate.org/debates/Trayvon-Martin-would-still-have-died-if-White./1/
__ Comedy conspiracy debate. If you're offended, skip to the last round for a summary.

Judging Paradigm:
1. Resolution is key: I pay close attention to the precise resolution and definitions, and am unswayed by attempts to move the goalpost to another topic.
2. Advice: I often give advice toward the losing side, to help them in future debates. I view this as more useful to everyone involved, than merely restating the entire debate content.
3. Four Points > Winner Selection: I prefer categorical ballots, but will only award arguments unless another category is decisive.
4. I have ethical integrity: This means I will neither award points on debates to which I am too heavily biased, nor partake in vote-trading.
5. Presentation: I appreciate both conciseness and organization. If you hide your point within a jumbled wall of text with no clear goal, their importance will likely be diminished.
