Supposition requires belief.
Though monogamy requires the commitment of two individuals, and one can only suppose that the other is fully committed.

Hmmmm.
History shows us that societies were built on more than trust...Some of it not particularly nice...Some of it downright brutal.
And trust and faith in marriage lasts for as long as trust and faith lasts...In the US, 65% of first marriages fail at some point, most within 8 years...Such is not a majority.
Perhaps Canada does better.
