Eh, displaying a picture of Hitler is not automatically the same as endorsing all of Hitler's actions. I think WyIted does support Hitler in other posts, but those aren't avatars and are thus bound by different rules. Maybe you could use a case that said posts should be used as context for evaluating whether the avatar implicitly endorses hate, but the guidelines are kind of gray in that regard.
It does open a slippery slope, like what about having a profile pic of George Washington? He owned slaves. What about FDR? He authorized internment camps. Who decides when the good a person did outweighs the bad enough that the profile picture is allowed?

Can we stop with this bullshit. He did not force the Japanese into internment camps. He moved people with potential dual loyalty away from sensitive areas. It was conservative governors who kept turning them away that forced him to set up temporary housing facilities and yes those facilities had rules like curfews but nobody was forced inside of them and you could leave whenever you wanted.
I hate giving liberals this because FDR was such a a terrible president but in this situation we let this myth stand because Republicans like that it smears FDR and liberals love that it paints America as being racist and justified their self hatred.

I think it’s valid to argue that it might qualify as “hateful,” though my view is that posting a picture of a historical person is not inherently hateful. Hitler might be an extreme example in this regard, but posting a picture of him doesn’t imply support for any specific action Hitler took or endorsed.
I’d agree with Savant here that, if we were to hold any image of Hitler as inherently hateful, then yes, there would also have to be some discussion of which historical persons meet the threshold sufficient for intervention and why. Just because the words in that rule are clear doesn’t mean the threshold for enforcement is spelled out, which warrants public discussion of this rule to sort out.

I would also add. If anyone and I mean anyone makes a good argument that me having this avatar is unethical I will take it down. I have yet to see an argument it is unethical so a site rule is not required for me to remove it, only a single good argument that I either have no rebuttal for or that is so good that I would be too lazy to post a rebuttal and will just submit and change it.

There is a reason I admit I am hesitant to ever own a site like this. I would need full capacity to do lawsuits, clamp down etc.
I would run the moderation akin to an intelligence agency. The reality is all trolls thrive when leadership lacks firm backbone and ability to enforce actual real world law on severe and/or repeat offenders.
You are so flimsy you cannot even stop Hitler avatars. I am on a whole other level of seeing where this site should be. You need the owner to work with you as there are certain cautions and paths that involve real world law that will stop a certain member doxxing me further and would handle members such as the one who threatened Fauxlaw a lot better.
I also think a complete site shut down entirely is in order and a revamp. The new ruleset and enforcement style needs to be such that the head mods and owner are not anonymous to one another. I am talking actual full names shared etc. The site needs to be open to cancel culture and give good guidelines.

Unless I’m mistaken, there were no specifics on this issue in that referendum. As far as policy goes on this front, it’s at least valid to point at existing rules and discuss what we should be doing, so I don’t mind looking at these rules as a basis for that discussion.

I can better enforce the new COC if we hold a meep on what I call unitary executive theory. I don't have time to explain unitary exutive theory as it relates to me being president but I can summarize it by saying I have a lot of power that is currently unrecognized.
I don't know ADOL though. It's kind of your fault though. Server costs are extremely low here and you could code up a new site. I just learned MYSQL and am now diving into Python but previously took Colt Steele's course and didn't complete it but am comfortable with HTML and a tad bit of JavaScript. CSS sucks but I figure we could just make it simple and use bootstrap if the site doesn't blow up.
It's kinda on you that you didn't build a site where free speech can be balanced with respect for the individual. I don't have the free time to do it. I feel like I know enough to do the back end and front end but not enough to know how to make the back end interact with the front end nor do I know enough to make it secure.

It would be interesting, but no normal system would really do it.
It would need to be decentralized and regulated at the same time, and that is not an easy problem to solve.
If it's a box in my basement, it will never be reliable enough to serve many people. What if I get into a car accident or something.
If it's in a cloud service, it can be shut down and I can be doxxed. The world needs decentralized communication, and it needs it yesterday, but like I said that implies that people's content filtering needs to be on the blockchain and yet anonymity needs to be a feature as well.
If I were to try and build this alone it would take me 5 years, and that's 40 hours a week.
