Hello friends.
DebateArt’s domain name expires in July. With the owner no longer present there are serious questions as to whether or not the website is going to be renewed. In addition there are features that are currently broken that needs to be fixed.
The mod team has decided to create a brand new community. We would like to get user input and start the development process. If you have any programming experience please contact me.
I have a vision of something’s that I’d really love to have in a community. These include creating micro blogs and media posts, team debates, and groups.
If you want to join this project please DM me.
Edit: New Moderator is
Welcome AdaptableRatman to the moderation team!
After considerable discussion, we’ve decided to welcome AdaptableRatman (AR, formerly known as RationalMadman) to the team as a trial moderator.
We understand this is a decision that may spark strong opinions. AR has long been one of the most active, passionate, and—at times—divisive members of our community. But what cannot be denied is his dedication. At a time when our current moderation team has faced limited availability due to outside responsibilities, we believe this addition will help improve our presence and responsiveness across the site.
That said, this transition does come with some logistical caveats. As many of you know, DebateArt has been navigating a period of uncertainty in the absence of our administrator, Mike. Because of this, AR cannot immediately be granted backend moderator access. In the interim, he will join our internal moderation discussions on Discord and act with full authority on moderation matters, with the support of the team.
If Mike remains unavailable, Barney will take the unconventional step of sharing his account and therefore moderation access with AR, ensuring he has the tools needed to fulfill the role. Please note: all major actions—such as removing detailed votes, restricting privileges, or issuing bans against real users—will continue to be made collectively by the moderation team, not unilaterally.
We thank AdaptableRatman not only for his willingness to serve in this capacity, but for his unwavering commitment to this site over the years. No other member has shown the same level of persistence, passion, and presence across DebateArt’s many ups and downs. In many ways, this is a long-overdue recognition of the role he has already played in shaping the community. We ask everyone to approach this transition in good faith. As always, our goal remains the same: to foster a fair, active, and engaging platform for debate.
