In the US Constitution''s Preamble, Madison wrote of achieving "a more perfect union." Is it just a pipe dream, or is it actually achievable?

Yeah, the AofC were a comedy routine. They're a mutual admiration society of perpetual innocence of the idiot variety. Something happened between their development and the Constitution, and I suspect  much of that was in the person of James Madison, because while he participated in the debate resulting in the AofC, he rallied against much of what its result was, and was an advocate championing their replacement by a Constitution. My admiration of Jimmy Madison is boundless.
