THe Supreme Court found against Planned Parenthood today in South Carolina: In Medina v. Planned Parenthood, a SCOTUS 6-3 decision determined that abortion cannot be funded by Medicaid after 6 weeks beyond conception.
Does it call itself "Planned Parenthood" as a deliberate deception that it's primary aim in counseling potential parents that parenthood should not be their resolve? Isn't that what's called an oxymoron; emphasis on the latter two syllables? It's as dishonest as abortion advocates claiming that abortion is a reproductive right since abortion, by definition, does not result in reproduction? Doesn't anybody use a dictionary anymore?

To shortly summarize:

1. The USFG is authorized to withhold Federal funding for Medicaid to states that aren't in compliance with certain conditions written into Federal statute. In 2018 South Carolina blocked Planned Parenthood from receiving Medicaid funds under a state law that prohibited use of public funds for abortion, while taking steps to ensure that entities which provided similar non-abortion services would still be available in the state. Planned Parenthood and one of its patients (she received gynecological treatment) sued. Per this ruling, private parties lack standing to meddle (sue) in an agreement between the Fed and the states unless the relevant statutes clearly confer rights on individuals.

2. The relevant statutes don't confer individual rights in this case.

The search terms "six", "weeks", or "6 w" do not appear in this document, so I'm not sure where you got that from. Maybe the South Carolina law in question said this, but said law was not expanded across the country.

re: your #4: a good summary, and I agree. Yes, the SCOTUS syllabus in Medina v. Planned Parenthood does not mention the post 6-week stuff, but that is current State law, with a few exceptions, but none that deter the SCOTUS decision today. That's what I should have said. Thanks for the reminder.

The law does not claim to be perfect, mainly because our civil law is ours, not God's. However, we have an out: we have codified the means to change and improve imperfections in our civil law. We also, unfortunately, codify the ability to make changes in law that take us retrograde, such as Roe.

When I was 18 I went there with my pregnant girlfriend at the time. A ten btw and taller than me. Anyway we just thought they helped plan parenthood. They literally never offered or mentioned abortion and just referred us to some OBGYNs.

The closest they got was they gave her a pregnancy test and mentioned it was positive and then asked her what her plans were. She said she just didn't know what to do about being pregnant and the word abortion just wasn't mentioned.

There was people with signs in front protesting abortion but I swear to God at the time that maybe there was an abortion clinic nearby and the signs had nothing to do with planned parenthood. I just didn't know

Law is as flawed as it gets, because it gets confused for morality, and at that point, you are governing sheep, not people.

I know you are being sarcastic but by extension do liberals believe we should indiscriminately murder poor people?

Why would murder be acceptable even if it does prevent poverty to some degree?

Re: your #9: so, how long ago were you 18? For me, 56 years ago. Planned Parenthood has been around since 1916, and has changed its stripes since then. Obviously, even within your lifetime, based on your observation & experience with them,  it has changed its stripes, because it is now all-in on abortion. Created by Margaret Sanger, who was, objectively, a practitioner of eugenics, which effectively was a sample of scientific racism, Planned Parenthood has come full circle back to the embrace of the Malthusian theory of overpopulation, which is, itself, discredited nonsense, even now in most rational circles.

Nigger / niger / nigor / nigra / nigre (Caribbean) / nigar / niggor / niggur / nigga / niggah / niggar / nigguh/ nuh
(U.S., UK) a black person. Can also generally be used towards anyone with brown or darker skin, such as an Indian. From the word negro which means the color black in numerous languages. Diminutive appellations include "Nigg", "Nigz" and "Groid". The terms "Nigga" and "Niggaz" (plural) are frequently used between African-Americans and between whites without the negative associations of "Nigger." Use of the word is often perceived as extremely offensive if used by a white person in any context. It is considered THE most offensive ethnic slur of them all; especially if used by a non-black person.

theory of overpopulation
Some countries have such low birth rates that they would laugh at mere mention of overpopulation.

Agreed, and what I find curious is that advocates of socialized medicine European-style in America ignore that we re the third most populated nation in the world behind India and China, and that such a medical system here cannot function as it does in Europe because those are all small pwpulations comped to ours. We simply cannot afford it on a per capita basis and come anywhere close to it being the equivalent for all. We need much more Democrat euthanasia techniques, like the Covid virus, to make S.M. work here, but, somehow, that seems to fly in the face of the Hippocratic oath; "first, do no harm."

Nationality has naught to do with either racial or national prejudice. I understood that as a pre-adolescent, but, then, I grew up in L.A.. a true melting pot where I grew appreciating and celebrating our differences as if sitting at one grand table where we sit together, and where all foods are enjoyed, all laws respected, all hands joined, all cultures and colors embraced, and all deities honored. What else could we ever want or need? But you go ahead with your monochrome-set blindness.

But your #14 did not say that, did it? You made an assumption. Say what you mean, not some prattled nonsense to which some can take offense. The freedom of speech does allow for causing offense, but it does not mean you're allowed free gratis to its use without expecting repercussions.

No. What happened was SCOTUS determined that the private Plaintiffs lacked standing to enforce a federal statute which arguably would require south carolina's medicaid program to pay planned parenthood providers for services provided to medicaid recipients.

It was just after 9/11 that this happened but the same narrative existed around them at that time
