"Treason's greetings" is a pun on the common holiday phrase "season's greetings". It is a pop culture phrase used in various contexts, often with a humorous or political bent. Clearly, the treason law is not enough. They might be silly, or courting danger but are not high treason. They died maintaining that high treason had been committed against the people of England.
