I question how people want to stop nuclear energy. I don’t know if it’s political but nuclear is cleaner, cheaper, safer, etc. is there seriously a reason why people don’t embrace it
There is no reason why to not embrace nuclear energy

Chernobyl disaster And Fukushima disasters come to mind.
-->
@Shila
But those are only two disasters recorded ever, whereas fossil fuels have had 2800 over the years, causing over 8.5 million people per year u like nuclear 50 over all time
-->
@Girraficus
The cleanup alone cost 200 billion dollars.

@Girraficus
Everyone likes nuclear energy, until your yard is near that power plant or its waste.
-->
@UltimateTrueKorea
That’s why they clear you out of the two places it happened

@Girraficus
The Sun bombards us with enough energy in one day for a years supply of electricity...Yet we prefer to waste it and build high risk, high cost, short term nuclear reactors that produce dangerous waste that must be hidden away long term and hopefully forgotten about.
Fact is, from the point of view of fragile organic structures, there is absolutely nothing whatsoever safe about the production of Nuclear energy
So what's not to like?

@zedvictor4
Solar energy farms can only work to get 7 percent energy capacity, unlike nuclear reactors which can get 93%
-->
@Girraficus
I don't doubt the stats re energy production.
Though the downside of nuclear energy production cannot be dismissed as insignificant.
And cost wise , renewables are far more efficient than nuclear.
Bottom line is though, if the human race demands ever more electrical energy then there will be a commensurate cost to the environment in some form or another.

You are resigned to the growing problem of nuclear energy.
-->
@Shila
I have no say.
The problem is people and perhaps the necessity of people and the necessity of material progress.
Perhaps a real AI will eventually take control of Earth systems management.
Or perhaps life on Earth has no greater Universal significance.
Or perhaps other systems will succeed and some systems will not.
Or perhaps there's a GOD that enjoys prayers and hymns.
Or perhaps..................................................

@zedvictor4
Let AI decided the answer.
-->
@Shila
Yes.
Perhaps the best way forwards.
Though if AI is a realist it perhaps will decide that it doesn't know.
-->
@zedvictor4
Pick an AI that is all knowing.
Oh yay, it turned to an ai debate, like I haven’t seen enough of these :/
-->
@Girraficus
AI is not limited by human intelligence.
-->
@Shila
I never said it was, I just said there is no reason to not like nuclear energy over alternatives.
-->
@Girraficus
Solar energy is safer than nuclear energy. The last two nuclear disasters cost 200 billion to clean up.
-->
@Shila
but you get exactly what you pay for with nuclear, whereas solar you don’t get that much energy in return than nuclear does
-->
@Girraficus
But Solar energy is free and globally available. China has the lead in Solar energy. Their EV is the perfect solution for the oil crisis the world is facing.
-->
@Shila
that’s fair but is solar energy really better than nuclear
-->
@Girraficus
It’s free and it is safe.
-->
@Shila
Nuclear energy is extremely safe
-->
@Girraficus
We already had two nuclear disasters that cost 200 billion to clean up.
-->
@Shila
We have had 2800 fossil fuel disasters that costs us way more than 200 billion
-->
@Girraficus
That has nothing to do with Solar energy which is the safest source of energy.
-->
@Shila
Just because its safer doesn’t mean its more effective, solar energy can’t power the entirety of France
-->
@Shila
Pick an AI that is all knowing.
Okay, and I will name it Rod.
-->
@Girraficus
Trouble is, as we strive to make the place "greener" and more techno we keep creating devices that demand electricity.
For example, 8.3 billion personal communication devices do not run on magic dust.
And neither do 60 million EV's.
Not to mention 80 million air fryers...Nor 4 billion electric toothbrushes.
Though toothbrushes do strive to make things whiter rather than greener.
-->
@zedvictor4
I don’t see how it proves anything against nuclear energy
