    Save Our Mother Earth

Our Earth is the most beautiful planet in our solar system. As far as we know, Earth is the only planet that has life.
Before 500 A.D., man had a good relationship with Mother Earth. But since humans developed cities and industries, the modern lifestyle has changed. Man has been using and misusing natural resources up to the limit. Now we are tearing up remote corners of the planet looking for crude oil and coal, and our forests and wild animals are disappearing. Our environment is totally polluted: we drink polluted water, inhale air full of dust, and eat food with traces of pesticides and other toxic chemicals. Hence we are suffering from diseases. As a result of human activities, the ozone layer has a hole, the sea is rising, and the ice caps of Antarctica and Greenland are melting. Now global warming is warning us that climate change is not a hoax and it is coming. Mother Earth is in danger; life on Earth is in danger. Let us come together to save our life-giving and life-saving Mother Earth.

    Save this beautiful Earth!

The evolution of people and animals was only possible because of plants. Plants are the base of the food chain and the source of energy for almost all life on Earth. Forests are ancient, mature communities of plants and animals, with homes and places for thousands of species. Forests give us oxygen, food, shelter, medicines, fuel, and furniture. Forests protect us from the heat of the sun, and from wind, cold, and rain. Forests maintain the balance of nature, the environment, the climate, the weather, and the composition of the atmosphere. As a matter of fact, forests are our life. But what are we doing? We are destroying the forests, meaning we are destroying our life and our future. All the problems we face today are made worse by deforestation. If we are thinking beings, we must save plants and forests, because they save us.

We can’t say the Earth belongs to humans; living things were using it for billions of years, before our own species showed up just some five million years ago. Our Earth belongs to all living things, if it belongs to any of them. But we overpowered many species and killed them for our use. Now thousands of species are extinct because their habitat is gone. As a matter of fact, these animals, birds, and insects have actually built a better environment for us, provided us with so many things: they are not just creatures, but the real creators of nature. We are here on Earth because they are here on Earth. If they are gone, we will also be gone. So the only wise thing to do is to save wildlife and its habitat.

Through deforestation, urbanization, industrialization, and pollution, our environment is being destroyed. Flows of energy, nutrients, and other elements are disrupted. Global warming and climate change are the major threats to Earth and all human beings. Due to carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases emitted by civilization, heat is building up in the atmosphere at a rate not seen for tens of millions of years. The cities are becoming “heat islands.” Pollution is becoming a great killer. Levels of air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, and food contamination are high. Human interference has brought nature close to destruction. Now we all must come together to prevent pollution and save the environment and humankind.

All these environmental changes are warnings of global destruction. Now we all must become aware of these consequences. The evidence is disturbing: we are destroying our Earth and environment. Let’s try our best to stop all this.

Don't you think that we have lost enough? We have lost rainforests, part of the ozone layer, most of our natural resources, and now we are going to lose animals! At least more animals than what we have already lost.
An endangered species is a population of organisms which are at risk of becoming extinct because they are either few in numbers or threatened by changing environmental or predation parameters. Animals can get endangered or extinct naturally, or from human reasons. It can happen naturally from natural competition, or from natural disasters.
Natural competition is when species compete for food and/or living spaces. An example of an animal species affected by this is the mussel. Natural disasters can wipe out or endanger a whole species. An example of an animal species affected by a natural disaster was the dinosaur. If the theory is true, the meteor that crashed down to the earth wiped out the whole species.
We have contributed to animals getting endangered too. The pollution that we create damages many animals' habitats. An example of an animal that has been affected by our pollution is the sea turtle. Over hunting is also a huge threat. When people overhunt, they hunt too much of an animal species, so either not many animals left, or no animals are left at all. Examples of some over hunted animals are the Bali Tiger and the Atlantic Cod. Clear cutting is also very dangerous for the animals. It destroys animals' habitats and leaves them with no place to live. Examples of some animals that have been affected by clear cutting are the many species in the Amazon rainforest. When huge corporations cut down sections of the rainforest of the rainforest many animals lose their homes.Animals become endangered before they become extinct. Endangered animals have to be very well protected because if we do not take care of the few ones that are left of one species, the whole species could disappear completely. Examples of some endangered animals are: the Sea Otter, the Panda Bear, the Siberian Tiger, the American Bison, the Mountain Gorilla, and the Liberian Lynx. Many other living things are in big danger of becoming extinct. There are at least 1000 different species of mammals and birds that are extremely rare today. No one can even possibly try to guess the number of insect and plant species in danger. For many centuries animals have been made extinct because of human over hunting or other reasons. During the last 350 years, 95 different bird species and 40 different mammal species have become extinct. Examples of some extinct animals are: 500 AD the Giant Lemur, about 1000 AD the Flightless lbis, about 1500 the Giant Moa, 1627 the Auroch, 1681 the Dodo, 1883 the Quagga, 1994 Passenger Pigeon, 1918 Carolina Parakeet. Should the list go on?
Many organizations such as WWF (World Wildlife Fund) are focused on helping animals, and the environment. They try to be actively eco-friendly, try to get the habitats for many endangered plants and animals protected. They do research on the species, they educate people etc. Zoos also help. They let many endangered species thrive and reproduce in a healthy and safe environment. Sometimes the zoo might even let an endangered animal go back into the wild to try to raise population numbers again.
Not only can the big organizations help, you can too, You can donate money or you could volunteer or contact your local organization to get involved, or you could do the simplest thing of all, CARE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT!
As you can see we have most of the fault in animals getting endangered and extinct. This is now becoming a global issue, but most people are finally taking notice. Do you really want more animals disappearing?

    Climate Change
Are you concerned about climate change? This is a question asked around the world as weather conditions become more extreme and cause more damage to areas inhabited by people, plants, and animals. Is human activity the cause of climate change? If so, what effect will this have on the planet? If the climate is actually changing, is there anything that we can do about it?
Scientists believe global warming is caused by human activity, and this leads to climate change. As fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and gas are burned to produce energy, carbon dioxide (CO2) is released into the atmosphere. These CO2 emissions have a direct impact on air temperature by absorbing and retaining more energy from the sun. This is also known as the "Greenhouse Effect." Scientists have detected a measurable increase in both CO2 emissions and in the average air temperatures around the world over the last 100 years. The relationship between the two is clear, but ignoring the effects of global warming could have devastating consequences.
Worldwide, increasing air temperatures have resulted in more precipitation in some areas while other areas have become drier. The severity of strong storms and high winds has increased. Ice that normally remains intact year round at the north pole is melting, creating more open water which absorbs more heat. Permafrost in Canada and Greenland is also showing signs of melting. All of these events indicate a warming planet.
Despite an abundance of evidence that climate change is now upon us, there are many who remain skeptical of the science. However, time is of the essence and we need to start changing our behavior immediately while the science is still being debated. The prudent thing to do now is to develop alternatives to coal and gas consumption. Not only does this improve air quality, it also becomes a source for new jobs and clean industries that produce solar, wind, and geothermal energy. Additionally, the construction industry has seen a boom in recent years of new, dense housing located closer to places where people work. It has also been shown that corporations and consumers can save money by recycling, by reusing once-discarded materials, and by reducing waste. Actions taken to reduce a carbon footprint become a "win" for all who are involved.
Ultimately, the truth of the situation will be revealed. Scientists acknowledge that the Earth's climate naturally changes over long durations of time; however, careful measurements of air and soil samples show that human activity has greatly accelerated climactic changes in a short amount of time. The planet is now covered with cities, highways, machines, and human beings whose activities are directly impacting the environment. To say that the presence of nearly seven billion people does not have an impact on the Earth's ecosystem is to live in denial of the facts and the evidence that prove the Earth's climate is, indeed, changing.

    VHEMT Manifesto
VHEMT (pronounced vehement) is a movement not an organization. It’s a movement advanced by people who care about life on planet Earth. We’re not just a bunch of misanthropes and anti-social, Malthusian misfits, taking morbid delight whenever disaster strikes humans. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Voluntary human extinction is the humanitarian alternative to human disasters.
We don’t carry on about how the human race has shown itself to be a greedy, amoral parasite on the once-healthy face of this planet. That type of negativity offers no solution to the inexorable horrors which human activity is causing.
Rather, The Movement presents an encouraging alternative to the callous exploitation and wholesale destruction of Earth’s ecology.
As VHEMT Volunteers know, the hopeful alternative to the extinction of millions of species of plants and animals is the voluntary extinction of one species: Homo sapiens... us.
Each time another one of us decides to not add another one of us to the burgeoning billions already squatting on this ravaged planet, another ray of hope shines through the gloom.
When every human chooses to stop breeding, Earth’s biosphere will be allowed to return to its former glory, and all remaining creatures will be free to live, die, evolve (if they believe in evolution), and will perhaps pass away, as so many of Nature’s “experiments” have done throughout the eons.
It’s going to take all of us going.
