Have you ever talked to someone where you have heard them say a small sentence describing something under their breath?
It doesn’t have to be malicious. It’s like thinking out ‘quietly’. When I confront someone about it, they always say they didn’t say anything.
I’d think I was schizophrenic if I only heard negative things.

I catch myself unconsciously doing this myself (minus the "without knowing" part I guess since I do catch myself). Have not really noticed this in other people too often but I do have a bit less than average hearing.

In fact, there's a phrase that describes this activity, "saying the quiet part out loud."

Similar to "everything after the BUT is the speaker's true opinion," words that are whispered tend to be more honest than words shouted.

@oromagi
That phrase implies there’s something secretive worth being withheld.
I’m not necessarily saying that. It’s a broad saying which narrowly fits with I’m trying to describe.
Discipulus_Didicit knew what I was talking about.

They are not actually paying you full attention. (Not uncommon)

They are conversing within a secondary internal situation.

And their denial is for obvious reasons.

I am guilty of this.

And when noticed, I usually pretend to be singing to myself.

Is this thread a question or just an excuse for you to insult other website users?

Well considering this would be something you'd only notice if you were physically around someone and it really doesn't happen on website post I'm not sure why you're accusing him of insulting other members with this statement. People don't post things they say under their breath unless they're doing talk-to-text and just really have no idea that's what they're doing.
