Educated northerners treat immigrants with humanity - the opposite of how southern “Christians” treat people trying to escape political turmoil, economic instability and a chronic humanitarian crisis.

“In any case, islanders more than met the DeSantis challenge. St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Edgartown quickly rounded up 50 cots and mattresses and housed the migrants. An emergency room doctor came down from Boston, while lawyers offered pro bono services. Five restaurants donated far more food than the group could possibly eat. High school students studying Spanish came to translate. The Islanders Talk page on Facebook exploded with offers to help, and donations poured into a Community Services fund. So many volunteers rushed the church with toys, clothes, bedding and other supplies that the police finally pleaded for a stop to keep traffic flowing.
“We literally have everything we need,” Lisa Belcastro, the island’s homeless shelter coordinator, told reporters Thursday”

Why are Souther States called the Bible Belt if they cannot even show charity to refugees?

Obama Admin. and now the Biden Admin. have been inviting illegals to the boarder for years, and for years they have been putting them on busses and planes shipping them off to red states and red cities in order to "fundamentally change" the demographics of those states/cities. No one blinks an eye.

But when a Republican does the EXACT SAME THING to Blue states/cities, the hypocrites crawl out of the woodwork like cockroaches whining about a 0.0001% illegal immigrant influx.

I mean really, 50 illegals to Martha's Vineyard and they act like they are being invaded and call in the national guard within 24 hours to reroute them to a base on Cape Cod.

So… what did the op ed think DeSantis expected to happen? For Martha’s Vineyard to jail the 50 migrants?

Ya know, if only every township could handle 50 migrants this well, we would have our immigration problem solved… right?

This actually helps DeSantis.  Publicity is publicity.

Literally anything to distract voters from Florida's faltering economy and cost of living will help him.

By handle you mean kick them out to a military base? sure!

At least we know know scientifically that the limit a Democrat can care about an illegal immigrant is 24 hours.

TOPS.

Why would anyone vote for DeSantis seeing how his states faltering economy and cost of living soaring. That’s like electing a 6 times bankrupt businessman for president.

He is talking about Red replacement theory. Lots of POC conservatives live in Red States. Most of them are against an open border. Especially when they have to pay for an open border. Not all red states have military bases they can dump illegals onto like Rich Democrats can in Massachusetts.

The difference is Democrats alert the appropriate agencies when they transfer immigrants or refugees to other jurisdictions. They are trying to help these people.

What the Republicans do is equivalent to picking up homeless people in nice neighborhoods and dropping them off somewhere else just to get rid of them.

Not just somewhere... a SANCTUARY STATE, you know, the states that dump illegals onto military bases once the camera is out of film.

Whites don’t  have a problem with other replacement colours like Red, orange Trump, swastika, etc. their problem colour is just black.

JoJo , an “open border” by definition means people are not being processed by the relevant agencies. That  obviously is not what is happening  or they wouldn’t be getting transferred by authorities in Texas and Florida.

JoJo dummy,  first of all, in case you haven’t heard, cameras, even the moving picture kind, don’t use film anymore.

Second, putting them in housing on a military base is exactly the kind of services these people need right now.

The cleared refugees were in Texas. What business did DeSantis Florida have to relocate them elsewhere?
Shouldn’t Texas Greg Abbot also be implicated in this illegal human trafficking?

How bad is California’s housing shortage? A 2015 study by the state’s Legislative Analyst found that the state has been building about 110,000 fewer units than the amount needed to keep up with demand. And California has been doing this for more than 30 years! That adds up to a shortage of around 3.5 million housing units and counting. And that translates to higher prices. A 2,400 square foot home in San Francisco will cost around $1.4 million if you’re lucky. The same house in Phoenix, a metro area about the same size, might go for around $400,000. And don’t get us started on the gas prices, the highest in the nation.

2022 Cost of Living Score: 3 out of 50 points (Top States Grade: F)

Consumer Price Index (May, West Region): UP 8.3%

Average Home Price (San Francisco): $1,396,782

Half Gallon of Milk: $2.55

Monthly Energy Bill: $266.44

Lmao, you're really trying to deflect.  Florida is a bad state to live in, it's overcrowded and DeSantis is not doing anything to make it better financially.

So, if every township could just follow MV’s example and tend to 50 migrants for a day before sending them somewhere more appropriate, our immigration problem could be solved!

States with higher median income.

States where you can get more house for your money.

Florida has Boston-like cost of living, but Kansas-like income

Sure, the Martha's Vineyard community stepped up, but that doesn't mean DeSantis' stunt failed.

He did it for national coverage, money and votes. He got the national coverage, and that has probably allowed him to get the money and votes.

Not even close lol.

Florida is right in the middle of this graph. A happy medium :)
(and lower than the National average, cha ching!)

Boston is way, way down on that list.
(And way over the national average)

Just make sure to turn the cameras off after 24 hours since people have goldfish span memories.

It's disparate.

It's in the middle because the lows of north and mid Florida cancel out with the highs of South Florida.

Stop being an intellectual coward and just unblock me if you’re going to engage me.

And no, the Biden Admin doesn’t alert any state agency that numerous bus trains planes and automobiles filled with illegals are being shipped to their red state.

Depends on where you live in each state. I live in Sarasota, FL the cost of living is very high here. 30 miles away in Arcadia, Fl  not so much. I am sure the same goes for Mass.  What's your point?
