Yeah, the concept of these energy-harvesting-dwelling-machines ,are not natures nest in tree or bushes. Some people are nature buffs, that want to go back to caveman days. Sorry, that's not for me.

What Stewart Brand found out, is that there is not enough sunlight  --cause structure casts shadows--- to come close to being like a regular greenhouse, ergo, he poo poos this particular type of this light-weight, energy-harvesting-dwelling-machine, however, he does give kudo's for the need for this kind of forward thinking approach.
