The more homework your students have, the worse the quality of your actual teaching is during classtime.

The reason you need to give them so much homework is to compensate for the fact that you can't teach them everything that they need to know in a classtime, especially to individually assess them in ways that classwork doesn't allow. This is fine in moderation and is a healthy part of the education system.

The problem is that when we start getting the idea that more homework is better, we forget two vital things:

Not all your students are geniuses or grade-grabbers for that particular subject. You can't forcefeed them the grades and stuff, accept that not everyone is an A-grade high flier.
Even if they are all A-grade high fliers and you're in one of those workaholic high-end schools, you as a teacher need to respect that it's down to the student and their work ethic to do what they need to do. You don't know how rough their home life is or how 'burst-study' their brains and schedule are. Some poeple genuinely are good at cramming and learn better that way, others need the steadiness. For those that need the steadiness, it's up to them to set themselves the extra homework and targets not for you to officially make everyone do more homework just to feel you have accomplished more.

A student needs to learn to teach themselves because once you're in university, that's how it starts to become. In the working world you 90% teach yourself, only 10% is even remotely to do with others teaching you and at least 50% of that 10% (so at least 5% overall) is from things that aren't the job but rather you watching others around you work and having interactions thereabouts.

I think debaters like Boris_Sh who forfeits the first round then go are just rankings boosters. Seriously, they exist so much. As much as it is convenient for point farming, it discourages actual discussion.

As a Student, I agree with Con. Too much homework will eventually lead to sadness and depression because pressure, and that's not good.

Argument: Con offered the only argument, and it is appreciated all the more by cunning use of germane cynicism in the 2nd round.

Sourcing: How does one apply negative points. Although Con offered the only argument, there was no sourcing, when, at least, the last paragraph of Con's round 1 begged for a source for the stated percentages of the factors noted. Pro offered no argument at all, meaning no sourcing. I'm not sure which is the more grievous approach.
