1-Face-to-face relationships may suffer, text form of communication is barren compared to the rich signals and complex messaging that occurs in a face-to-face conversation.
2-Social media makes people communicate with each other but never meet and never have memories.
3-Young people struggle with in-person communication because they lack practice, and they don’t know the rules. e.g: kids using slang language and don’t respect conversation rules.
1.Connecting with your loved ones conveniently. e.g: Today, social media gives us the opportunity to contact our families and friends from anywhere.
2.Social media has become a major road of communication for students who are studying abroad. Therefore they can communicate with their family.
3.Online communication has brought information to people and audiences that previously could not be reached. It has increased awareness among people about what is happening in other parts of the world.
1-Communication in social media can affect mental health e.g: if someone doesn’t meet up with people he will probably have mental health issues because in human nature’s people need face-to-face communication.
2-Boredom. Hopefully, we are becoming bored with texting and this can lead to an increase in the quality and number of meaningful face-to-face conversations.
3-Social media can affect your communication skills e.g: many people lack confidence and many people interrupt others while they are talking.
- World events, disaster relief. e.g: We all found out about covid-19 on our social media so more people stayed safe at home.
- Doctors can communicate with their patients through social media. E.g: My father can communicate with the doctor about the medicine.
- Movements, advertisements, and products are all being broadcasted on social media platforms, thanks to the increase in social media users. Today, businesses rely on social media to create brand awareness as well as to promote and sell their products.
1-Wasting time. e.g: Studies show that 11 percent of adults prefer to stay home on weekends and text on social media instead of going out and acquiring real-life experiences.
2-In social media communications, texting and using emojis don’t really express feelings and emotions like real face-to-face communications.
3-Friends, social media might have given us a lot of online friends. But what about those whom we live everyday with? The longer distances might have been cut down, but the people close to each other are now going far apart.
1.Social networking platforms like WhatsApp are incorporating options (WhatsApp Payments) within the application that allows you to transfer money to other people with minimal effort.
2.Celebrities can now also keep in touch and communicate with their fans or other celebrities through social network sites.
E.g: Billie Eilish can communicate with other celebrities to make new songs.
3.Broader reach helps branding and advertising. e.g: I feel very strongly that social media made a really good opportunity for people who want to advertise their home-based businesses.
