Description

I believe the idea of multiple genders is bogus. Gender is someone's "Gender Identity" and is not influenced by sex. But doesn't that mean we could identify as just anything? What if I identified as space alien leader, is that ok?

I believe that the only two genders that truly exist are man and woman. Male and female. I think that gender is completely different than "gender identity". Gender and sex in my eyes are almost the same and one should influence the other.

Gender is described as either of the two sexes (male and female), especially when considered with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones. The term is also used more broadly to denote a range of identities that do not correspond to established ideas of male and female:
Male and female are the established ideas of gender, but we cannot simply add some because we want to identify ourselves as something that simply cannot be explained as a gender.

Of course, you could bring up the topic of transgender. To me, being trans does not separate you from the established ideas of "man" and "woman". It is more of a middle ground but does not stray from the idea of two basic genders.

This is an unrated debate, so I'll be experimenting a bit with my arguments - concision, elegance, etc.

This is quoted directly from my opponent.

Definition of middle ground (from Merriam-Webster): a standpoint or area midway between extreme or opposing positions, options, or objectives

P1. The middle ground is distinct from the positions is it is between.
P2. Transgender is a middle ground between male and female.
C1. Transgender is distinct from male and female.

Q1. Male and female are genders.
Q2. The middle ground is of the same type as the positions is it between.
C2. Transgender is a gender.

R1 (from Q1 and C2): There are three genders.
R2: Three is greater than two.
C3: There are not only two genders.
