Description

Pro: The earth is a globe
Con: The earth is not a globe and is -insert other shape here-

Round 1
Pro
#1
The lack of a flat earth model

The fact there is not a single flat earth model that can
  • Accurately represent size & shape
  • Explain the seasons
  • Explain day & night cycles
Is very telling to why there is not a flat earth, my opponent should be able to provide a model if the earth is truly flat.

"Gravity"

A flat earth simply cannot explain why things fall, my opponent needs to offer an explanation for this.

The Earth is not flat.

If you define globe to mean "the shape of the Earth" then yes, the Earth is a globe. But if you define globe as "a sphere," then the Earth is not a globe.

If you're defining the shape of the Earth as a globe, that's basically the same as asking "is a dog a canine?"

If you're defining globe as a sphere, then the Earth is absolutely not a sphere, it is an oblate spheroid, and if you're measuring just the land mass, it's an amorphous oblate spheroid.

It's roundish, yet not a perfect sphere.
