Round 1
Hello and thank you accepted this debate.
The first point I’d like to start with is how the two bands sound.
Personally, I think Radiohead sounds better than Coldplay, mainly because they've constantly evolved over time. Let me give you an example: Radiohead’s first album, Pablo Honey, started off as a kind of experimental rock/grunge record, blending elements of post-new wave and britpop. But then they changed — The Bends is the turning point.
The Bends is not only a more solid and mature album compared to Pablo Honey, but it also marked Radiohead’s breakthrough in the music industry. It's hard to define The Bends by a single genre — it could be seen as an alternative rock album, perhaps even a post-noise rock version of Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth.
And this idea of transformation applies to every Radiohead album — they always evolve. They never stay in one place artistically.
On the other hand, Coldplay — apart from their first couple of albums (especially Parachutes) — tend to sound the same to me. I honestly don’t have much to say about them, because after starting as a britpop-inspired band, they moved toward a softer, more commercial sound, which I personally find quite uninteresting.
In my opinion, they lack the sonic sensitivity and experimental drive that Radiohead have. Don’t get me wrong — early Radiohead was quite similar to Coldplay in the sense that they made emotional rock music based on personal experiences. But then they completely changed: just think about Kid A or Amnesiac, which are radically different from OK Computer or The Bends.
These are my thoughts on the topic — I’m curious to hear what you think.
Unfortunately i have a important debate(lemming debate) and i cannot have enough time to prepare for this one, I will put a full 2 round worth debate in round 2
Round 2
I guess it won't be a big issue for this debate

No worries at all, take your time it's not a big issue at all
Yes I truly apologize to pro. It was last minute
@pierree
I've 'heard of one Radiohead song, Creep.
Never really listened to it though.
Coldplay, 'also only ever heard of one song, Viva La Vida.
I 'have listened to that one, like it well enough.
. . .
Radiohead The Bends Album
I don't know, there's something about the soft crooning breathlessness of his voice I don't like. Maybe I just don't connect with the lyrics all 'that much.
The instruments and vocals feel as though they 'mix a bit to the point of just 'noise to me.
Some purely instrumental versions aren't 'bad, peaceful I suppose.
To me, it also seems as though Radiohead in the Bends album repeat some of their lyrics a 'lot.
Some of the guitar also sounds 'murky? To me.
Of the Bends album, I think I preferred Bones and Street Spirit (Fade Out), though some of the others instrumental versions weren't 'bad, just not 'great for 'me.
. . .
Coldplay Parachutes Album,
'Still not really my style, but I find the lyrics easier to understand, they're more separate from the music and spoken quicker, rather than long crooned out.
But, Coldplay 'still croons more than I like.
Just not my genre I guess. Yet, I like Frank Sinatra's music. And some other long drawn out human vocalizations.
Ah, Yellow, heard that one before, never cared for it all that much, don't 'hate it, just don't like it either.
We Never Change wasn't that bad.
. . .
Eh, either band though and the genre, probably fans ears can better pick out differences and qualities they like.
Hm, better at what?
I suppose if two bands had equal depth, but one had a greater range, one might say the band with greater range is better.
@21Pilots
'Maybe shouldn't accept or offer debates, if you don't have a strong expectation, you can 'be 'there for them.
