Description

Whenever there is an atheist counterpart to what was once dominated by religion influence, everything has been better. This is a discussion to explore this idea and why a-theism and atheism is provably better framework than any and every religion.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

For much of history, humanity has lived under the yoke of theism for all matters. From explaining the universe, our existence, our roles and purpose, our lives and deaths, how we behave and what our offerings should be to whatever organization speaks for the gods. It's only been a few hundred years that mankind has discovered better explanations, more effective methods, and more efficient use of resources including our own time. Where possible, once the yoke was shed, we have before us our modern world.

--Government--
=============
America was formed as a secular government with the freedom of religion as a foundational principle. It was the only way to address the problems back home where many of the immigrants to the new lands suffered under the rule of a single denomination! Not even another religion, but just another domination of the same religion.

Theists don't have a framework of truth, even from the same exact text, and with death as the only recourse, or to be more accurate, torture then death, it's clear that theism is a terrible way to run things. That includes those countries that still have a royalty, who were originally god-approved, where most of them have made their god-given powers largely ceremonial.

These rejections of theism, by theists themselves, are a clear indicator that not only are religious ideas a bad way to run a country, but it's also ineffective, and only leads to death. Therefore, secular governments are a force for good.

--Science--
=============
I don't think it needs much explaining that when it comes to explaining how the universe works, religions have been contradictory, incorrect, and largely useless. Consisting of mainly pithy statements such as "Let there be light" and no actual mechanism or explanation, theists are left scrambling trying to fit a scientific square into wholly holey theistic texts.

In fact religious texts are so full of holes their explanatory powers are not negligible but also dangerously wrong. As way of example, for the Abrahamic religions, placing mankind as a supposed owner of the planet has led to millennia of destruction with centuries the worst. Women's role in society have been marginalized and the LGBT+ unfairly maligned.

To this day, many of the modern conspiracy theories, have some of its roots to Christianity: Flat Earthers and MAGA, all claim direct deific interference. They can do so because legitimate theist argument cannot disprove those claims.

Again, with no framework to know what is true or what can be concluded true, allows all kinds of falsehoods and destruction. Therefore, non-theistic explanations are a force for good.

--Conclusion--
=============
There are many other example but these are two we can start with.

AdaptableRatman - thank you for accepting the debate.

My argument is already in the description. Please proceed addressing those points directly and challenge the idea that religion is worse in the areas of governance and science.

Thank you!
