Description
Abortion has been a topic of hot debate recently.
Round 1
Thesis: Abortion should be legalized as a human right.
Argument I - Multiple cases where women died because of restrictive abortion laws
Savita Halappanavar died to a miscarriage that could have been easily aborted, but was neglected by Irish healthcare the right to abortion.
Olga Reyes died due to an ectopic pregnancy that could have been aborted. She died from cerebral arrest due to internal bleeding.
Argument II - Medical conditions can put in risk the life of the mother severely
Preeclampsia, placental abruption, early water break and infections,
"When asked if abortions are sometimes medically necessary to save a woman’s life, Elizabeth Janiak, ScD and Assistant Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School also told Reuters, “The answer is clearly yes.”" - Reuters.com
Argument III- Although there can be socially unacceptable cases of abortion, it must be guaranteed as a human right because otherwise it may heavily difficult the access in socially acceptable cases
Psychological studies and anecdotal evidence suggest that forcing a woman who has been raped to carry the pregnancy to term can have significant and long-lasting negative psychological and emotional consequences. Rape kits can take weeks, if not months, to be tested, often enough time so that the legislation's max time limit for abortions has passed, and the mother is now unable to attain one. This is also worse for abused teenagers, who not only have to deal with the trauma of abuse, but must also deal with the troubles of having a child at such a young age.
This, however, does mean that some unacceptable cases of late abortion due to irresponsible, but willful actions can still happen. These immoral situations, however, are far less than the cases of medical need of an abortion or an abortion due to rape or incest.
Abortion doesn't have to be legalized to allow the possiblity save the mother's life.
If abortion is not going to be condoned across the board in the minds of many that have the power to vote for abortion policies, there should not be a vote, thus not a legalization.
So killing the unborn does not have to be legalized in order for self defense if there is a such thing from an unborn baby.
Killing the born does not have to be legalized in order for self defense to occur from a born baby or older person.
Which lends to argue that the issue is not with not allowing abortion in medical situations but with medical practice and treatment.
So with this regard, it should be a legalization for excess taxation for research in how to save both the born and unborn's life together.
If you're not going to condone abortion outright, then be consistent in the solutions that end the outcomes of abortions altogether.
The issue is in botched baby deliveries further complicating pregnancies and poor medical intervention and treatment.
The following is taken from a search on the Google search engine :
"Medical advancements and their impact on abortion
Reducing complications: Research can lead to better treatments and monitoring for pregnant individuals, reducing the number of pregnancies that become life-threatening."
"Conclusion
Medical research plays a vital role in reducing the need for abortion by improving maternal health and preventing complications. However, it is unlikely that research alone will eliminate all abortions. Abortion will likely remain a necessary medical procedure in certain life-threatening situations, even with the most advanced medical interventions. "
This conclusion indicates that there is no matter of fact that abortions are the end all solution. The possiblity to advance passed killing the unborn to solve problems has not been eliminated.
Thus it is not justified to not go beyond to actually solve the issue that hasn't received a solution but a bandage.
I'll leave it there. But once more for self defense which has to be substantiated and established like any other self defense situation, the doctor will be on trial for no attempt to save both lives.
