One cannot very successfully defend the idea that its okay to reduce number of persons.
You can on the grounds of consistency.
If you can't force a dude to endure a few days of vasectomy pain to prevent the death of an unborn kid, then you can't force a woman to endure even a few days of pregnancy pain for the same cause. Nobody will experience both a vasectomy and pregnancy; I'd rather weight both pains equally per unit of time.
If you want abortion banned, then get a vasectomy.
