Split-off discussion from the premarital sex thread. See this post and this post.

And slavery is almost universally condemned in the modern world; in the ancient world it was so normative that God himself condoned it.
The condemnation does not mean much when there are millions of slaves in the world, some of whom are enslaved in Western countries, or making products those in Western countries use. Do you think you have never used a product not made by the hands of a slave? What about all the children forced to pick coffee beans? And the fruits you eat? What about the clothes you wear and technology you use?

Where does it say God condones slavery? God has less to do with slavery than you and I do. He is not using products made by slaves. Take it up with Satan if you dislike slavery.
Lev 25:44-46

"As for the male and female slaves whom you may have, it is from the nations around you that you may acquire male and female slaves. You may also acquire them from among the aliens residing with you and from their families who are with you who have been born in your land; they may be your property. You may keep them as a possession for your children after you, for them to inherit as property. These you may treat as slaves, but as for your fellow Israelites, no one shall rule over the other with harshness."

And I don't understand your argument. "Because slavery is still happening in parts of the world, it's okay that God condoned it"?

This is a topic best discussed privately.

People like to pretend democracy isn't corrupt to the core in every instance of it.

The reality is God was, is and always will be an unelected ruler over us. He did not design us to make our rulers suit us, he made us to serve our emperor and make peaceful progress.

I am not convinced all under non-Christian tyranny go to Hell especially if they had barely any chance to convert. Good works matter a lot and faith in a God matters too.

Jesus is for those able to have him.

We are not meant to be vicious rebels unless in the name of the 1 true faith. Even then, be reasonable.

Yes, you are reading this correctly.

Democracy itself is flawed by design. It does not work as so many of us are foolish or immoral. We end up with back to back variations of scum in charge. Some are better at this, others are better at that.

They pretend they have your interest at heart but are fast to value immigrants over their own people or fast to value their own people and be merciless to other tribes and demographics. They faslight, break election promises and want to be powerful, serving donors not you.

I do not care if you think this means I am untrustworthy in a public office. The fact I would need to be terrified to utter my thoghts in such a position or get cancelled is proof that freedom and democracy are illusions. We are enslaved to cancel culture, always have been, always will be.

Remember, democracy at first is what put Hitler in charge and a rebellion against dictatorship is what led to Stalin's USSR down the line

Putin gets elected back to back.

It is a sick, twisted game. I don't care how shocking this take is.

I am true to my faith even if society shuns me for it. I just stay lowkey and type my views here.

In this website alone and DDO before it, Airmax and the mods winded up either equal or better than the elected presidents. The presidents were corrupt start to end. If you keep thinking democracy is in and of itself good, you will not understand life.

The alpha male in a place is not elected; it is a natural occurrence. It simply is a design of God on all pack animals of which we are the greatest. Trying to defy that with elections and nominations is why Leonardo DiCaprio was robbed of so many Oscars. You are blinded if you see popularity in itself as a good measure of goodness.

I always say that person shouldnt care about what society thinks now. What society thinks now is not what it thought in the past, and isnt what it will think in the future either. Opinion of  society changes all the time. Society says one thing, does another, thinks third.

Well hang on a moment. They should care or they can end up in trouble. Street smarts matter far more than book smarts.

Caring for opinion of society causes much more trouble now. Really, society will place such unrealistic expectations on you that if you should care about them, you would have mental breakdown and constant depression.

Maybe that ends with you finding God.

I am not Protestant, I am not the type to bully the weak man who is struggling. However, I realise what nature is. If you think it is against God's design that when the victim fights back they still can 'lose' in the end even if they win the fight, you don't understand life.

Satan didn't suddenly make slavery happen. It is all a brutal, unrelenting test.

If you want Heaven, you need to trust God. You need to realise he is observing you and you need to pass his test.

Part of the test is how you get by socially. Why else would autistic geniuses have a legally classified disability? It is because it fundamentally does actually matter how we get by.

I don't respect weirdness. I also don't shun it. We are better off obeying rules. In the end who is usually further in life now, the timid teacher's pet or the brave badboy that thought he was amazing?

That is what Nietzche gets wrong. The structure doesn't mean the abuser or bully is always right, it means work with others.

If my neighbours think I am something bad, it leaves me powerless. It increases the power my own parents could have to abuse me or spouse could. That is why evil abusers isolate their victims and spread rumours. The number 1 thing to do is to shed rage and sadness about it and to pray. Go talk to a neighbour, be kind. Alternatively, stay out of their way. Say little and don't disturb them. Conformity has power. Be that guy who others go "he's a decent fellow". That gives you so much power.

There is usually a saying: God alone, or only God. In Latin: Deus Solus.

Society is always temporary. God is always permanent. You can buy society with money and promises. You can pretend so others like you more. But in the end, God favors neither the pretenders nor the comfortists even. God has sent you on Earth to fulfill the mission, not to merely fit in with others. In fact, God wants you to change the world, not adjust to it. Of course, this is my opinion. There are different views on what God wants. But it is still God alone principle which must apply.

We don't see it the same.

This probably is because I am St. Peter-adhering more than Protestants are. Caths and Orthos see conformity and submission to an Emperor as a good thing so long as the Emperor is not severely unjust. Remember, Caths opposed Hitler, Prots supported (I showed you the data no bias or making it up).

In general, you will find that life is better when you stop fighting the system and try to nudge it with others.

I dont really follow 5 solas. I just follow the fact that God alone is the ultimate master, and serving someone other than God means rejecting the ultimate master. In the end, all power is with God alone. Society has no power except which God allows. In this way, if you serve God alone, you will benefit the most. What society can give you is only temporary and conditioned. What God gives is much better. Thus, serve God alone.

5 Solas is beyond normal Prot.

5 Solas is Reformed Protestantism and doesnt just mean the original Lutheran or Anglican Reform.

5 Solas includes a most insane idea that once you are baptised (saved) you are permanently saved (OSAS), guaranteed heaven. I have no idea how to be arrogant and delusional enough to be to believe that.

Presbytarians (which is what Trump originally was but is now a sort of non denominational Christian) are the hugest proponents of OSAS.

Another obvious problem in 5 solas is actually sola scriptura. There are many ways God can communicate with people, and thinking that you cant get authority outside scripture is strange. I understand that it was meant against pope, but a much better one would be God alone. There are ways other people inspire me, and I usually consider that as sign or gifts from God. I limit my hope and dedication to God alone, but it is God who works through everything and everyone everywhere. So what comes from other people is often from God. I simply ask God to send better things my way and I put all my hope in that. However, I would not submit to corrupt society. I dont accept corruption.

Well Sola Scriptura is there in a lot of Protestantism except Anglicans. Anglicanism still sort of purports it.

Democracy and slavery are similar now. Serving majority is a very special type of slavery. I guess the logic is if majority are slave owners, then its different. Democracy by pure definition means majority owns minority. It is hidden slavery.

Many haven't realized this but slavery is a part of the gospel message.

I'm not talking about Hebrew Israelite camps that teach they'll enslave so called white folks in heaven.

But true Christians are actually slaves of God which I can get this will push away atheists to far away galaxies beyond measure.

Hence being an atheist, you want your liberty as being your own god .

Is there a distinction between "condone" and "acknowledge?"
I believe the answer is Yes.
Condone is tacit approval.
Acknowledge is tacit recognition of existence, but not approval.
The one is not the other, and "tacit" is the demonstraton of that fact. It is recognition that God had expectations of us when we have, to date, failed to observe properly. It is evident that we do not love God as we should, and do not love ourselves as we should.

The  balance of the OT, post-Genesis [which, from Eden, had a simplified insrtruction to have dominion of the Earth for purposes of righteousness [not greed] and understand the distinction of good and evil. The balance of the OT is based upon the Law of Moses which had more strict requirements because the Israelites proved to be less respectful of those initial requirements out of Eden, which should have sufficed. They were, on their own, sufficient to treat one another with respect to to treat God as our Father by following his laws. Out of Eden was a dogma very similar to the two commands offered by Christ when asked to identify "the greatest law." Christ, instead, gave two "greatest" laws which are eternally inseparable: Love God; love our fellow man. Adhering to these, alone, would satisfy, and make of us better people than the Law of Moses ever could, which is why Christ said he came to fulfill the law, not to destroy it. To fulfill law is to step up from what was law to a better law, much like Jimmy Madison proposed in the Preamble of the Constitution of the United States: to be "a more perfect union."
God has been trying to tell us forever, since Eden, that we are free when we follow his advice, and enslave ourselves, nut by him, as we accuse, when we do not.

Atheists are
Generalization. When are we going to cast off this notion of collectivism? It is demeaning, obstructive, and a false view of our intended diversity.

However, data from the Federal Bureau of Prisons suggest that atheists are far less likely to commit crimes than religious people, and globally the least religious countries have the lowest crime rates.
