First impression: I’m taking Musk’s side here. 

For too long we have had this cycle:

-Dem elected president
-Dem completely and utterly fucks the economy
-Repub gets elected
-Repub helps only marginally, sometimes makes things worse
-Dem elected

The libertarian right needs to become more vocal.

My read of this is 75%: Musk is the real dude and Trump sold out America to the bad guys in return for his victory comeback.

I always was suspicious of how the election issues just evaporated.

We need a known face to rally around first. After that it shouldn’t take long to find someone younger.

I’m talking ideological figurehead here btw. It’s a strategy call. We get an established public face so that we are known/noticed, then find someone younger to promote.

Sure, but this would require hijacking MAGA in the republican party no matter what way you introduce the leader.

Do you think Vivek Ramaswamy is an option? He made the right noises.


The core issue is this: The people are generally not paying attention. Even the greater engagement of late is just die hard radicals growing in number. If people are happy in 2028 they're going to give credit to Trump and they are very likely to go with whoever he endorses.

If they aren't happy they are far more likely to just vote democrat than to primary out Trump's pick.


It is practically impossible to penetrate the rigging in the democratic party, but this would be the ideal time for an attempted libertarian takeover of the democratic party. That way the pendulum swing is with you AND there is no big names to beat out.

The other big problem with that, besides the fact that the deep state still controls the party, is that the base of the party thinks government spending solves problems. When libertarians do appeal to them it's on social issues, but there are no more sane social issues left in the left-tribe.


.... No, the only way forward is to hijack MAGA.

That could be true. 

But there's a huge possibility that Mharman's suggestion would work. Ron Paul is very influential, using a tactic like Social Proof has the potentiality to turn the tide. 
I suppose ADOL is right about the success of a plan like this would fail if MAGA's loyalty to Trump is irreversible.

You can’t cut the deficit without cutting social security/medicare/medicaid, which is political suicide and goes against what Trump promised. Cutting fraud and waste is good but you can’t cut the deficit with just that. Gotta understand how DC works first. Plus the will only increases the deficit because of weird accounting tactics the CBO used. If the bill doesn’t pass, taxes go massively up for everyone lol

This is where libertarians fail in a lot of ways. They aren't good at strategy. yes more money is bullshit long term but this is short term because if we don't give some gibs then that's a large amount of the government exclusively controlled by the left and it makes future wins harder. We know for sure that Trump was friend with Epstein and even talked good of him, and was aware of his preference for younger women. Now, whatever happened to all information about Epstein, I dont even care enough to research. It was clearly covered up by someone.
