Fascist? Sure, if you're broad with the term. Fascist doesn't just mean evil, it's a specific brand of authoritarianism. For example, was Genghis Khan a fascist, despite the fascist movement not officially forming until long after his death? He certainly did a lot of things we would call fascist today. So it's not really objectively measurable any more than you can objectively measure whether someone is secretly a Republican or a Democrat. Sometimes it's just what party they're registered as.

Trump isn't the first president to take aggressive military actions or challenge the checks and balances on his office, nor the first politician to stretch the law to attack his political opponents. Maybe it's simply the case that Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden, Lincoln, Truman, and FDR are all fascists, but if one authoritarian action makes someone a fascist, then I'm not sure how useful the term is, or how consistent it is with how other political descriptors are used. Does promoting socialized medicine make someone a socialist if they support the free market in some other respects?

So in just the past week Trump has deployed the US military onto US streets
Is that fascist? An appeals court temporarily allowed this, so I think that's a stretch.

endorsed his administration arresting the governor of California, and said anyone who protests his birthday parade will be met with force, publicly pressured a news organization to fire a journalist for saying mean things about Trump
Sure, let's grant that this is authoritarian. I think the bar for fascism is probably higher than that, given that he's not the first president to make vague and likely unenforceable threats.

arrested a sitting US senator for the crime of asking a question at a press conference.
He said he wasn't arrested. But sure, let's grant that forcibly removing him from a building is authoritarian.

Are we seriously still pretending this isn't everything the left said about Trump during the campaign that you all claimed was just TDS?
Everything the left said? So Trump has banned all abortions and put all gay people in death camps?

I'd say Trump is more authoritarian than some presidents and less authoritarian than others. Arguably FDR (or any president to fight a world war) has a better claim to being fascist than Trump. If we're calling Trump fascist for what he's doing now, you definitely can't give a pass to FDR for internment camps or to Washington for owning slaves or to Abraham Lincoln for forcing Native Americans out of their land. But who knows, maybe they're all fascist. I definitely think you could make a case that they were all evil to some extent (imo, this depends a lot on whether they sincerely believed their actions were justified). For fascism, it's all a matter of where you draw the line, and we've been pretty generous to presidents up to this point.

Nothing more fascist then sending people back to their country of origin.

I heard that's just what the nazis did. Tours stopped in their tracks. Thousand of Canadians doomed to return to Canada to face polar bears and hockey pucks to the jaw.

Trump is just another big government hawk, a vocal central planner supported by tens of millions of Americans. If he is a Fascist, then every American president after 1999 was a Fascist - and at that point the term does not mean anything. Trump and Mussolini have little in common aside from the personality cults around them.

I think that Trump is much more similar to Obama or Biden policy-wise than he is to Mussolini. He is not implementing any racial-favoritist policies, he is not making himself into a supreme dictator, he is not building a police state - instead, he continuously finds ways to funnel more money from private hands into the hands of bureaucrats and to prevent people from engaging in economical and social transactions that offend him and his loyalists. Other than that, I do not think he has any principles, and his supporters' main principle seems to be that whatever offends "the left" is what needs to be done.

Mussolini was an actual convinced ideologue, and his supporters believed in Fascism. Name one prominent Trump supporter who openly expresses his belief in Fascism - you cannot.

I am from the south of Russia. It is warm in the south, and quite free. In many ways you are freer than you are in a western country. There are less social interferences in Russia. The family is respected and government does not get involved in private affairs. You can live in Russian countryside and be very free.

It is seen as less desirable because incomes are lower.

I do not know what "gaslighting" means, but I do know a lot about Fascism: read Mussolini's title book and thought about it a lot. Trump or any of his supporters I have talked to have never shown any interest in the ideology, and their words and actions have only a small superficial intersection with it.

I have not seen any evidence of Trump having been a "racist prick". Donating a lot to Hillary to beat Obama is an indication that he is racist? I also think that Hillary would have made for a much better president than Obama - so what? I also think that Condoleezza Rice would have made for a better president than Bush - so which way am I racist?

You seem to be looking for racism everywhere where more than two races are involved. That is very common nowadays, and very lousy.

There is bullying everywhere. In western countries, you are bullied into being liberal, or coerced into being liberal. The insidious nature of western governments is worse than Russia, where the red lines are clearly drawn, and where the Russian comes first.

Western governments are liars.

Just because his suppirtwrs are generally low iq and shallow does not change the fact that Mussolini also rose as did Hitler, by gaining lower iq shallow support.

Most that voted foe Hitker did not realiae tbey were voting for a Nazi regime as we know Nazis to be. This is exactly what is going on with Trump's voters. Theyre sheep being misled. That said you get voters that are Fascistic and hate how little of a Fascist Trump is being. At least they voted for what matched their views.

I am not familiar with the data on the IQ distribution of Trump supporters, but Mussolini's closest followers certainly were not shallow people: they were hardcore ideologues that were willing to die for their beliefs (and many did, including Mussolini himself). Trump's closest followers just seem to be crafty politicians taking advantage of his penchant for loyalty.

You can find parallels between anything. "Fascist" though is a very specific term, and the fact that you can find some parallels between Mussolini's and Trump's followers does not imply that their ideological makeup is similar. I can find a lot of similarities between Stalin's and Sanders' followers, yet I would not claim that Sanders's supporters are Stalinist.
