Well, it seems as though the domain registration for this site is set to expire in less than 12 hours. Not much time is left before the site shuts down again, perhaps permanently this time. Use this thread to say a little goodbye while there's still time.

Goodbye, DebateArt. I wish I would have found you much sooner. Still, I'm glad I found you when I did. There truly is no other place quite like you on the internet (I looked). May DebateCraft rise from your ashes and soar even higher. 🫡

Ah well, my fingers are crossed, that the site doesn't shut down.
I hate redoing forum conversations and debates.
I like it when I write something down and decide, 'that's my opinion.
Then I can just refer to an old post, to know what I believe and why.

I learned a lot from this site over the years. It was a source of fun and knowledge for me. Not many sites out there who let you do text debate, and then have that debate saved on site so you can look back after a year and still see what you wrote.

Awkward to have to say goodbye to another site… again. Not sure if this one is for keeps, but we have a great team working on a new site that I think will stand the test of time. Like DDO before you, you will be missed.

Thanks Allah.  Looks good. Yes its not accepting members yet.

I was on the old Dart, and here on this DArt within first day or so if I recall correctly. 

In those days there were many groups that I could be a part of.  Now days many less, or many less having activity.

Discord is good, tho mostly for younger gamer types and not many found with my cosmic interests.

My server there is Theory of Everything Universe.

Farwell, DebateArt. You were never as lively as DDO, nor as integral a focus of my waking life as DDO was in its heyday, but this site enabled a fraction of its original community to stay intact past 2019...and brought in a couple of newbies too.

Now there's effectively two alternative platforms. We'll see how long they can last. But frankly, the idea of "website A's community mass migrating to website B, then six or seven years later facilitating a mass migration to website C" has to be incredibly rare. I don't think I'll ever not be impressed with what happened here.

Goodbye DART. I am much more logical because of you (I hope). The community that you mediated and held together is pretty great. I found you at a time when I needed something like this. 

Ironically, I found DebateArt in a Top Ten Debate Sites list for 2022. And the editor for the article obviously wasn't very familiar with the mechanics of the site because in the images for the site there was a debate but one of the debaters had a strike through in the name, so the editor was showing off a banned user's debate. lol. 

Funny how this site was my first experience with debating, first with a debate website, and first with forums in general. QUITE an experience!
Thank you to the people that made all the magic happen.

I believe Wylted when he said that the users on this site were the best of the best (paraphrased) on any debate site. 

I'm glad we can continue on DebateCraft

I am afraid I am short on time to read the whole thread, but don't worry, the domain won't expire and I keep on paying for the hosting, so the website should continue running just fine. And I will try to work harder on finding the replacement.

The launch of thiis thread is the exact reason why I think at least one Forum section ought not be available to ordinary members, leaving it for the use of the site owner, moderation team, and site president to launch notices because this string is counterproductive even if meant well. This belongs as a personal notice, and there is a section for such thoughts.
