This question has been bothering me for a while, I argue with my family over it for a while.

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

This is the question. Personally I think it’s a no brainer to choose red. The options are essentially saying you live or you have a chance of dying. Are we really going to trust almost 9 billion strangers to trust you and think of your emotions when they don’t know you. If everyone presses red, everyone lives, same as blue, but with blue you don’t know what everyone is pushing, everyone could be pushing red and you’ll die, so why? Explanation needed pleeeeassseee.

In America you pull the trigger before you choose either red or blue. So no matter which colour you pick the other guy doesn’t get to choose.

There isn’t a gun?
Would you press the red button or the blue button?

I would press the Blue button so as not to create a panic.

But you don’t know if you’ll live or not,
I’m not risking my life with 9 billion strangers whom I’ve never met and they’ve never met me,
We can all press red to survive without taking a risk

Okay if we switched the meaning of the buttons, where if more than 50% of people hit red everybody lives, but if more than 50% of people hit blue, everybody who pressed red dies, what would you choose.

In the UK I generally abstain with the green button.

Though relative to your thought experiment, only a fool would not press the red button.

Who needs fools?

I had an hour long argument about this with my mom and she just ended up saying “well I don’t care if I die anyways so I still press blue”.

Does it all really matter.

Well, that's a big question with no definitive answer currently available.

We can only speculate.

Though I suppose that the answer is either Yes or No.

Though the answer could be Yes and No.

But I will say that ultimately the answer is NO.

Pick blue and let the red handle itself.
