It's like, you're assuming I'm only going on math when I'm not suggesting that at all. I'm just suggesting we don't VTL solely off of behavior. Behavior is important, but we need facts and probability too. You're not going to convince me otherwise because, to me, it's just plain stupid to lynch someone off of behavior when you literally know nothing else but how people have been behaving. Behavior can be falsified, exaggerated, etc. Facts usually can't be.

I don't think it's likely Mhar would have put roles that mess with results of NK's or lynches, given a new player. But, sure, this is possible. I don't see it as likely myself and we can probably dismiss the idea until we get evidence of that specifically somehow.

I don't get why you call it a "free kill". They get a kill regardless of what we do unless some role prevents that.
If we VTL, we could end up having two townspeople killed instead of 1. Regardless of what we do, unless there's a doctor who guess the NK correctly, someone will die. This notion of a free kill makes no sense.
It could be more than a free kill if we VTL: it could mean they get two kills. Why risk having them get two kills just to try to kill a scum with absolutely no information other than player reads?

You lynch D1 because it helps you analyze which players voted for or against the lynch. If the lynch was town, then maybe look into the voters. Look into the person who was the number 2 vote-getter. See if you think it was a mafia member whose teammates were saving them.
If they flip mafia, the number 2 vote-getter is probably town. Maybe you can look at who was advocating against the lynch, etc.
It's a +EV play to lynch D1
