You said your name is Mike, right? The DDO creator just went by Phil.
Yeah :) Well, if I change it now, people will not know that they need to contact "Mike" with questions or suggestions. First we need to add at least some "admin" and "moderator" icons or some other kind of indicators.

I really enjoy that on PMs it's like IM platforms where enter is sending and I like it because I happen to know how to extend the message with shift+enter.

On the other hand, I know those who would really dislike it and who will slip up thinking they were pressing enter to make a new line etc and sending it instead. It should be a 'switch' thing that the user can decide.

DA is what we were gonna call the site. How do we distinguish the site from the person?

Good to hear :)

So you mean something like a small checkbox that would toggle the mode how you submit the message from just "enter" to "shift + enter" ?

He'd obviously need to be asked, as I said. But, he is the kind of guy who prefers to moderate in the background.

Yeah, that'd be fine. I get that modding isn't exactly a delight, and it's a massive time-suck. He has to make the call for what's going to be best for his life. But, I know he'd do a good job. Whiteflame, too. Maybe a few other people.

I think we should initially avoid giving DDO mods nodding positions for DA. It's been too long since we've seen them just using the site.

I disagree. Let's be honest, not many people are super engaged with the site right now...because it's a mess. The reason we haven't seen Max and Whiteflame on the site is because they've been swamped by the sheer enormity of the task they had placed before them, namely, controlling the spam. What's more, there aren't many other alternatives the community at-large could embrace. Max is a kind of transcendental figure on DDO, the kind of consensus choice that gives his rulings legitimacy and weight. I'm not sure that many other such users exist. Whiteflame comes closest, though a few would disagree with his appointment to such a role vehemently. The problem is not finding someone willing, per se, or even someone competent (though those are not insubstantial hurdles to overcome). Rather, the problem is finding someone about whom no one could be perceived as reasonably objecting to.

I'm confused about where this came from, V. I was just saying 1hard's post made sense to me. I know airmax's buddies want him back in power by default, and really I'd have no problem with that at all, but I never really personally knew him like they did. He was a distant landmark to me.

For now you could just change your username to Mike (Admin) or something like that. Or just use a profile picture that has an admin badge.

So are the usernames of banned members always in red?

Only for today I am afraid, tomorrow they will be grey and stroke with a line :)

Oh I see. Yeah hitting the Reply button doesn't quote anything or give anyone any idea which post you're responding to. Next time you could hit the quote button on your post creator and copy and paste the text manually. It's not ideal but it works for now.

I don't think this thread is the place to get into an argument like that, but I was probably marshmallow even before I came to this site.

You started it, if you can't support your claim of hostility then withdraw the accusation. I won't accept lies being told about me.

Sure, consider it withdrawn right now. I don't want to be responsible for befouling the Questions thread for everyone. It was just something I said in passing to EtrnlVw, no malice meant.

@1harderthanyouthink
I for one would oppose AirMax ever being a mod here, and I would encourage the Gentle Readers from DDO to do the same, not that they would need much encouragement.

Other than having his buddy as mod again, I haven't a clue why bsh1 is so insistent on AirMax modding here. We aren't in a crisis, what is the urgency? What is the need?

An easy test would be to take a post from bully or hari from DDO, post it here, and let's see if Mike's opinion would agree with what AirMax did in actuality.

I run the risk of having his friends accuse me of hate, but I'm more interested in the success of this site than I am of what they think of me right now.

They are acting like this site is DDO2. It isn't. It is its own site. DebateArt.com There is no reason Mike needs to accept a mod hoisted on him by DDO refugees.

Let the man run his site.

If we truly are going to say this is not ddov2 then I should be one of the alpha mods for I am the truest of the truest in understandijg how flame wars occur and who really starts them.

No, wrong. Influencing others is a major strategy here and you are doing it too.
