Abraham Lincoln had people who did not agree with him, but had many smart people in his cabient. You are looking modernly, look at it from the 1800s

Any women? Any conservatives? Any African Americans? Any Christians? 30's is middle aged?
Castin was a mod before she stepped down
I am a Conservative
I am Orthodox Christian
Speed is African American
By middle age, I mean older moderators

(These are things public btw)

Who's the straight mod?

Denial denial denial

Oh ethang, thou art in a state of denial.  Thee liveth in thy owneth w'rld.  Thee liveth not in thy owneth reality and seemeth to beest in denial of the events yond occureth 'round thee.  Cometh and accepteth the fact thee knoweth nothing about me.  Thou art deluded, but not in the way yond is beneficial toward society

I agree.

A part of debate is also to vote, but,

It seems now, that most debates are very poorly written. I'm fine voting for any topic (learning something new), but when the text is poor, it's just hard reading it.

I feel like that we should separate debates, serious and non-serious. Maybe we could incorporate this with part of ranked and non-ranked debates?

Here's my idea

We should encourage voting. More badges, extra rewards, or something like that.

We should also make the voting requirements a lot more specific, and encourage in depth responses. But...

If you write a poor debate, you get a poor vote.

But for the people who just want to get a quick debate done, then there should be a separate tab. Like I said before, something like separating serious and non-serious debates.

But, we also need to focus on recruiting new members. Advertisements on DDO and elsewhere might help, and a well crafted tour well guide them right in.

More but reasonable mod action also may be required.

If this continues...

Take a look at DDO. All their debates have next to none votes.

Soon, this site may as well be a dull place, where low quality debates with no attention are spawned.

We don't want to suffer the same fate as them.

We have to change

I return to the point at issue:

If you want people to vote, you have to do three things....

1. Make voting easy.
2. Eliminate barriers that prevent voting from being easy (i.e., voting moderation, RFD requirements, etc.).
3. Write better debates (i.e., ones worth reading).

First two I agree with.

Third point is subjective

Everything I said is "subjective".

By saying "subjective" you mean "I am not sure I agree with that".

Be precise in your language.

What you consider to be good debates is completely up to you, and it may not match my definition of what is a good debate. Everyone likes to debate on their own topics in their own styles, so just let them be.

The only two changes we need are...

1. Make voting easier.
(With weighted votes that reduce the need for huge RFD's

2. Reduce barriers that prevent voting from being easy (i.e., voting moderation, RFD requirements, etc.).

Common sense tells us that without restrictions on voting, the system would quickly become unusable.

Well, how would I teach myself to become a better writer? I don't buy that doing it more often helps. It seems like it would just reinforce bad habits.

How? It was an interesting debate about the infamous Black Lives Matter group.

Also, DebateArt.Com person, I don't seem to be getting email notifications when my name is mentioned, sometimes.

Hi, make sure that you have them enabled in the office space and if they are, then it's probably the limitation that we have that makes sure that emails don't get sent more often that once in 5 mins, I think.

Bad arguments. Bad responses to bad arguments. Bad defenses against bad responses.
