Sounds like he did drain it and get rid of him. And then unlike any administration before him was able to do. Manafort was prosecuted under Trump's DOJ. Sounds like he got flushed successfully, no?
Would this be the same DOJ that Trump has been angrily attacking for months because it would not compromise its political neutrality and abandon its investigations into his people. And would this be the same Manafort whose conviction Trump called a witch hunt and a disgrace.

If Manafort was "drained from the swamp", it was in spite of Trump, not because of Trump.

In any case, when he said he'd drain the swamp he meant he'd get rid of corruption that was already in Washington -- he didn't mean he'd bring in new corruption within his own administration and then get rid of it.
