Ok there is ONE good thing about Reddit: you can find fixes to most of your tech problems on there.

Reddit, I dislike how a new page opens up when you press a + sign, in it's comments.

Then it only shows 1 or 2 replies, and you have to press the + again, but it just opens up a 'new page with one or two comments, further from the main page.

Hm, thinking on Aesthetics again, and whimsical Reasons and Values.

Why do people accept being prisoners of war, made slaves, or tortured?

I suppose 'any life is sweeter than no life?

Any chance at escape or freedom, worth suffering for?

But 'lot of history seems to end up with prisoners led about in parade and then executed at some point (Ancient Rome)

. . . Maybe they 'still had hope, or accepted their fate in 'exchange for something such as their city or family not being 'also executed?

Many cases it doesn't turn 'out that way though.

. . . Though, less a fear of being sacrificed on some stone alter I suppose, and maybe 'greater hope of 'some 'day freedom.

Maybe odds were better in ancient times than I assume.

Maybe life is sweeter than I assume, even in terrible conditions.

People who commit suicide would disagree, I think.

I suppose, but I assume more human choose to live, than to give up in bad circumstances.

Its not that some choose to live, many people who self-harm want to die in some moments, but they dont kill themselves because they have other wants too, and their suicidal thoughts appear and disappear repeatedly, which is something suicidal people know. Suicidal people arent always suicidal and they arent always equally suicidal.

If the universe created itself in some paradoxical way, it would already be close to being a god- only lacking sentience (some would already consider it a god at this point). From that point- is intelligent design (the idea that a paradoxical and supernatural being created the universe) really that far off? I posit it is the logical conclusion.

The thought experiment above resulted in me remaining a Christian, when I had first thought about it a few years ago

I’m sure I’m not the first person to think of the idea, however.

I have question my Christian faith at several points in my life. I remain a Christian.

Physical removal… how much does it conflict with free speech?

Well, it depends on how disruptive the removed was. For example, if you walking into a room and start shouting over everyone, one could argue you are limiting the free speech if others, thus they have the right to physically remove you.

Sure, it could technically be considered a form of censorship… but it’s preferable to censoring a whole room by shouting over them, derailing conversations, etc

It should be noted that the beliefs of the person doesn’t matter- it’s more about HOW they express those beliefs. Offensive opinions by themselves are not disruptive. Shouting an opinion over everyone else (especially in anger) is disruptive, no matter how spicy or mild an opinion may be
