How are debate ratings calculated?

Not that I consider myself to be a serious debater.

But I was just curious as to why someone who had only completed 2 debates and lost 2 debates, would have a higher rating than me.

I only noticed this because I fancied a debate on free speech....Only to find that my freedom had been curtailed....LOL.

I believe our ratings are based on ELO https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system

Basically, someone who wins against lower rated opponents gains less and risks more.
