I was watching an old interview to the ex kgb Yuri Bezmenov who warned americans that russia was planning to subvert the US ideologically.

There you have a summary in this link:  youtu.be/c-ZSaxLF92I

Eventhough it's a game trailer, the interview is real, just look for it, its more than an hour long.

So, the question is, at what stage do you think this process of ideological subversion is?

1st stage, demoralisation
2nd stage, destabilisation
3rd stage, crisis
4th stage, normalisation

Here is the full interview for those interested, made in 1984.

Stage 6.

Shambolic military offensive into Eastern Ukraine.

Let's us forget recent shambolic military offensives into Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ideology in tatters until the next time someone forgets that modern warfare however technological, never results in a  perfect solution.

Subverting the subverted is a tough nut to crack.

Though I expect that the average Russian citizen is just as pissed off as they ever were.

Could be misunderstood. Both US and Russia have tried to subvert each other ideologically. That is an essential part of the ideological warfare. It is to be expected.

As if the US hasn't subverted enough countries in the past decades, including the Soviet Union. In a sense, this is revenge, not aggression.

I think they are close to breaking the first phase, and starting up the second one early.

How could an authoritarian country be subverted? The soviet union didnt need to be subverted since they subverted themselves with their communism. Lol.

We are probably already at stage 4 with Ukraine where the public expects to be nuked at any time and are generally OK with it.

I don't think the US was interested in subverting the soviet union, instead the US did mere political propaganda.

It's more difficult to subvert a communist nation than a liberal one like the US because in the former there is an authoritarian goverment that take over people's lives, while in the last you are free to do whatever you want, even subvert people.

Is an incorrect claim. US is a country that has a history of subverting or trying to subvert any country that opposes to it.

instead the US did mere political propaganda
Which would mean the US attempted to subvert the Soviet Union by using political propaganda in an attempt to undermine the government.
It is not correct that US did mere political propaganda. US also forced the Soviet Union into mass military contest.
Also often sent propaganda and spies to Soviet Union.

It's more difficult to subvert a communist nation
Does not negate that US is interested in subverting a communist nation. US wants to overthrow Communism in every Communist country.
"Doesnt have an ability to subvert" does not prove the claim of "Doesnt have a desire to subvert" to be any correct.

True, you've gotta go once and somehow.

And then there's dinner to prepare.
